Everyone worships something. I hope they find someone or something worthwhile to worship.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo I don't whorship anything.
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn It doesn’t have to be something spiritual, it can be secular.

Religion is part of the human condition. As humans we are constantly changing, right? Otherwise we’d be dead. So how are we changing? We are changing in response to our own perceived ultimacies. In other words, whatever we value most. Are you going to sit there and tell me you don’t think anything in this entire universe is better than anything else? If not, then there must be something you worship.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo I appreciate my life and I'm happy I'm alive, but I don't worship anything. I don't think valuing things like family or nature is worship. The definition of worship is all follows:

: to honor or show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power
2
: to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion

While I do love nature, my family and relationships I don't think it's extravagant. All human beings value certain things that does not mean the worship them.
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn If you’re changing in response to it, then it is extravagant and does qualify as worship. And you are changing in response to something, otherwise you’d be dead.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo I simply don't think that is extravagant. I'm not sure about the whole dying thing. Theists and non-theists alike value things that's natural.

@JimboSaturn Are you familiar with “A Christmas Carol” by Dickens? Mr. Scrooge worshipped money, and it changed him. Obviously everyone doesn’t worship money, but everyone is constantly worshiping something or other that is changing them just as dramatically as money changed Scrooge. It’s part of growing, it’s part of living.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo I love A Christmas Carol. I just don't agree, I'm not constantly worshipping anything. I am gratefully appreciating everything I have and doing my best to enjoy life. I have no overiding obessions or objects of desire.
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn Are you not constantly changing?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo In what manner?
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn Are you not growing, not maturing as a person?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo Sure, but I don't think that has anything to do with worship.
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn You don’t think that the thing you value most has any effect on your character?
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo Sure, but again, not worship. In fact , things in my life has led me not to worship anything or any person.
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn Okay, Mr. Enlightened One. I hope some day I can be as tough and independent as you.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@JPWhoo I'm not tough or super independent.
JPWhoo · 36-40, MVIP
@JimboSaturn Of course you are. You don’t worship anything like the rest of us fools, you don’t serve anyone like all of us weaklings do. In times of crisis you don’t depend on anyone or anything else to get you through it except yourself.
