This isn't by accident of course. Some people (we don't know who) at VERY high levels in the Democrat party appear to be angry. At Biden's “war mongering”? Ukraine support? The Chinese balloon turkey shoot? Deportations? Let's admit that President Biden's policies, while aligned with “traditional Democrat values”, are vexing to leftists who want more control. The kind of activists who want to cut the defense budget. Defer to Russia in Europe and China in Asia. Open the borders to “undocumented a$$holes”. Make America Bait again . .

Gavin Newsom is waiting nervously in the wings, trying to remain invisible. No speeches or criticism of the White House. He's been PROMISED he can run, but ONLY if he's respectful and obedient. And Gavin is trying his best. That's what the party bigshots want now – someone obedient. Quick – name ANY OTHER famous democrat who is said to be a “leading 2024 contender”. See . . . you can't do it. Sympathetic media outlets are doing their part to be obedient too. For now.
Newsom is not inevitable, however. For starters, he has a goofy name: “Gavin Newsom”. It sounds like a minor cast member from Cheers. While he IS pleasing stoners by making California the substance abuse capitol of America, Gavin is struggling to explain homelessness, mass shoplifting raves, power shortages, and mind-bending taxes. 500,000 people abandoned the state last year for Texas. But they would probably still vote for Gavin for president. Because the average American has a short attention span and is attracted to promises of free stuff.
Democrats can take solace in the small progress they've made in taking down Nikki Haley. They found some decades old speech in which she supports the legal/scholarly position that southern states (any states) had a constitutional right to form a new nation. If only she'd gone on to endorse slavery while wearing a KKK hood, she'd be toast. Nikki's critics will have to be content at claiming that their own rewritten versions of history trump long standing accepted constitutional analysis.
Trump? Did someone say Trump? The headline this morning sez that the ONLY (pending, sealed) indictment is now jeopardized by that Georgia grand jury forewoman. The one who looks like a Dollar Store cashier. She's launched a national press tour. Dishing complete details of what happened while they were locked up for 8 months. Well, that does it . . . . no indictment now! Because "Trump can't get a fair trial" if some random citizen tells us what actually happened behind closed doors, can he? Ok, Trump - you can run again . . . (insert Democrat applause soundtrack here).
