If you were alive during the time of Christ's trial, would you have shouted that you wanted Barabas to be free'd and to crucify Jesus?

Cause I think most people are decent enough (atleast in the western world) these days that they would never want that.
[c=A69800]No one (Alive now) really knows what happened and if the whole thing is true.. but who is "Barabas"? , what did he do?

Anyways look at what has been happening in past and in 2020, 2021 and 2022..people virtue signalling But saying eff people who go against the narrative/norm and even telling/snitching on them and more to make their life horrible just like what was happening before nd during second world war..

Sooooo uhhh yeah most would not want that what u say but you NEVER Know how people really think especially when they are brainwashed and more.

@PrincessRoarBuddy Good points.

Barabbas was a theif and people had a choice who they wanted to be released, either Barabbas or Jesus(who had done nothing wrong) and they chose Barabbas. A real dick move if you ask me.
@Matt85 Thanks.

Oh is that actually true..

And who put an angry face at ur comment?

Why not?

It's said that religious leaders stirred the crowd to choose Barabbas, and people like choices being made for them. Additionally, Barabbas demanded nothing from the crowd and was one of them. He demanded no self-examination, no repentance, no acts of mercy or forgiveness.

Are we not still taking the easy, popular way at every chance, particularly when it's cooed to us over and over that it's a good choice, a right choice? In today's climate, Barabbas wouldn't have to do a thing; all Jesus would have to do is demand some effort.

@scrood When did Middle Eastern archeology and anthropology become political?

Lay down.

No, because I am not one of the juice, I support CHRIST not the anti-Christs who want to remove "God with us" from the world. Bar-abbas means "son of the father" and is ironic because Joshua, Yeshua, Jehovah, Jesus, is the SON who is the FATHER one in the same, hence the Son took the place of the son of the father, Barabbas, who symbolizes all of mankind, sons of Adam, who is condemned to die for the original sin of disobedience. Only by perfect obedience to the FATHER did Christ pay the price for our sins and conquer death.

The Romans had NO WISH to execute Christ yet they did anyhow???? Pilate will be held responsible along with the juice for the death of the Son of God until perfect justice is served, only the LORD knows when that will be.

We do not know what kind of stuff was going on then.

@revenant Yeah true. I'm pretty sure it did happen ..and that was somewhere near Jerusalem.

Logically Christians should celebrate Judas since his actions helped make their salvation sacrifice possible.

But logic has a distant position in religious matters.

@redredred
I always thought that. In fact, Judas and Jesus conspired together to make it happen!

The whole Barabbas story is suspect. It sounds a lot like the scapegoat story in Leviticus 16. The whole yarn seems to be made up to support the "Jesus is a sacrifice to save humanity from sin" story.

Remember it was the religious right of his own time, the Pharisees and Sadducees that wanted him dead. The same people that would string up a brown skinned Jewish preacher today as well.
Under what conditions? Knowing everything that I know now? If was told that a guy was going to shred the very fabric of our civilization, I might decide that it would be better that we spare a petty criminal
