“Where are you PAPERS?!”

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is asking state universities for the number and ages of their students who sought gender dysphoria treatment, including sex reassignment surgery and hormone prescriptions, according to a survey released Wednesday.
Why he’s conducting the survey wasn’t completely clear. DeSantis has been criticized for policies seen as discriminatory, including banning instruction on sexual and gender identity in early grades and making it easier for parents to remove books related to the topic in public schools.

“We can see cuts in funding for universities to treat students with this condition, and I think an all-out elimination of services is certainly on the table,” said House Democratic Leader Fentrice Driskell.

And before that happens, DeSantis will almost absolutely violate the HIPAA protected information clause.

Cutting health funds, banning books, replacing school boards with conservatives, prohibiting life cycles instruction in schools, banning certain language and words. Threatening legal action against such, legislating no Covid mandates forever in the state of Florida…

Heaven, until you look at education, poverty, quality of life, diversity, progression, health and general wellbeing.

Florida is turning into a very scary place.

On top of all of this tourism is or was a huge deal in Florida. Does DeSantis think only white, straight, and cis people travel?

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it is already there.
@samueltyler2 I only mention it because not alot of people are talking about how it won't be just locals fleeing the Banana Republic of Florida.

Tourists, snowbirds, etc.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow the fact that no one calls him out on it, suggests that is not the case.
@samueltyler2 I have a different take. I believe he is in an echo chamber of people who are true believers just like him so who is realistically going to call him out? That and he has already intimidated people who have spoken out against him so others probably are just keeping their heads down and don't want to give him a reason to declare them enemies of the state.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow o am afraid I agree, just as tRump allowed all the nuts out, these evil people may just be reflecting a deterioration in society. Last week's craziness about gas stoves was a perfect example of mass hysteria. Less than 30 percent of homes on the US have gas stoves, yet so many claimed the government was attempting to take your system
@samueltyler2 I know it is a small sample size but I know some snowbirds here that normally spend the winter in Florida, Texas and Arizona. Alot of them don't plan on going back next year unless these idiots are gone. Who knows how many will decided to stay home next winter is hard to say but I know some will.

And I knew someone in Tampa who mentioned Canada Day is a bigger party than the 4th of July down there so it could get ugly as things escalate.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I hope the tourism industry suffers! Maybe that will educate the voters.
@samueltyler2 You know you fucked up when people are willing to cancel their holiday and deal with 3 months of -30 to -50 weather. lol

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow until it hits him where it hurts, he won't change.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Canadian season down here is HUGE. And we love when they come down. The rumors are (largely) true - they're nice.
