@bijouxbroussard I've had conversations with a black guy who is convinced that black people are the problem. Of course, in his mind, he's the exception, because he sees what his fellow black people are doing to aggravate the problem, and he is just [i]so[/i] above that sort of behavior.

That was the whole thing about Dave Chappelle’s character Clayton Bigsby (the black KKK leader) and why it upset a few people— it hit too close to home. But at least in that sketch, the character was blind and didn’t [b]realize[/b] he was black. 🤨

@bijouxbroussard I know, right? This guy is inordinately proud of the fact that he doesn't "sound black" when he shares audio clips. And he doesn't. He sounds like an upper middle class white guy.

IDGAF what you sound like, even if you want to sound like a ghetto stereotype. But he seems to be so pleased with that fact that it makes me wonder about him.

@LordShadowfire The idea (in some circles) was to sound as "ethnically neutral" as possible in order to have more opportunities. It’s been mostly a black middle-class thing.
Is this an older fellow ? Lots of people in my generation grew up with that kind of bs, too.

@bijouxbroussard He's in his mid-20s. I'm not sure what the deal is with him. He's fully convinced of the right wing narrative that a lot of black people bring scrutiny on themselves while crying victim.

@LordShadowfire Wow…that’s kinda sad. What usually eventually happens to someone like that is, they’ve bought the game "right-wing rhetoric" and think, if they play by those rules, they won’t have any problems. Then a cop pulls them over, or something happens where they realize what’s what. Not everyone profiled, beaten up or killed by the authorities was doing something wrong.
