Free Speech means...

SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@deadgerbil Sad part is it's kind of true.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
There's no bigger snowflakes than conservatives. They talk about snowflakes all the time but I feel like it's so much that it's projection on their part. It's always the people who talk about free speech who also don't believe in it.

@Burnley123 I honestly think Elon was making it up. I think he wanted to destroy twitter out of revenge for them banning people who were similar to Hitler so he purposely made bad choices. You know how crazy they get. He got his revenge all right.

@SatanBurger Nobody draws the victim card as professionally as those right-wing guys.

Remember:

It's a private company and he can do whatever he wants.
"Free speech" does not mean you can just say whatever you want, that just protects you from the government.
If anyone doesn't like it, they can go to another social media platform.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 Hm, did you make these points when Parler was being taken down after pressure from the US Government? That was specifically Apple and Google who did that.

How about when Trump got kicked off Twitter? Or Kanye West? Or Milo Yiannopoulos?

Now that some goofy libertarian bought Twitter and is letting a lot of undesirables on, now you care about this? Am I getting the timing correct?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SumKindaMunster He's hardly 'goofy' when he's fired most if the workers. Megalomaniac is more accurate.

Apple and Google enforce t&c because the want to protect their brands from reputational damage, not because they are Marxist.

Social media should be regulated by aj independent watchdog. Billionaires should not decide.

Perhaps, I am offering my opinion of the man and the situation. He's just a rich egoist. It sounds like you have been indoctrinated to believe something malevolent about him.

Fuck that, you don't know what you are talking about. They were pressured by the US Government to remove Parler from their ecosystem. Full stop. It wasn't their decision, they acted at the behest of the US government.

Oh independent watchdog huh? And who gets to decide who that is? You? The government?

There is no such thing.

It sounds to me you are all for free speech when it agrees with you, then suddenly it's problematic and needs to be investigated or shut down when the speech doesn't line up with what you already believe.

In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, and I remind you that now McCarthy will become House leader come January, we will be able to say "Christmas", instead of "Holidays", I choose to see the glass half full.

Now that Musk is opening Twitter up to the right fringe, I'm sure they will be sticking it to the left, by buying Teslas. Go Tesla! My focus is on the big picture.

NO ONE who has billion dollars is to be trusted!!!

Nobody is forced to use Twitter.

In case y'all wonder what an actual letter looks like from Twitters free speech brown shirts:

[quote]Twitter
Hello,

Your account has been suspended and will not be restored because it was found to be violating the Twitter Terms of Service, specifically the Twitter Rules against participating in targeted abuse.

In order to ensure that people feel safe expressing diverse opinions and beliefs on our platform, we do not tolerate abusive behavior. This includes inciting other people to engage in the targeted harassment of someone.

You can learn more about our rules against abusive behavior.

Thanks,

I had my Twitter account since Twitter started on March 2006 and before Musky had $181 billion

Wow. I wonder where avocado toast falls under those guidelines?
A right-wing sociopath doesn't handle criticism well? Wow!
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
But you can promote violence against Russia.

@MrBrownstone What does your astrology book predict for this week?
@MrBrownstone When they invade another country and commit war crimes there? Yes.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@SW-User It says...a childish distraction will attempt to hijack your day...ignore such provocations and the distraction will give up and slink away...
