why can't we have something better?

why do we settle for career politicians from either democrats or republicans conniving to achieve on party rule in washington DC. Isn't there a better alternative?

Basically the winner-take-all system is rigged in favor of Democrats and Republicans over all third parties. For example, the Green Party probably most closely reflects my values, but if a significant number of liberal voters vote for the Green Party candidate they’ll end up splitting the liberal vote with the Democrats, which will result in a Republican victory. While the Democratic candidates are somewhat flawed and bought out by big corporations, they’re still much more tolerable than the Republicans, and they’re the only party with the resources necessary to beat the Republicans.

@JPWhoo i'd be more okay with the green party if i knew about what they had in mind for schools, homelessness, narcotics, foreign policy, taxe

@JPWhoo All the states must list a party on their ballots before they can be eligible to run for President. Currently they are on the ballot in 23 states, and are waiting for certification in 9 more states.

@4meAndyou In Missouri they weren’t on the ballot for a long, long time, then in I think it was 2020 they finally got on the ballot, but then they weren’t on the ballot again this year.

@SusanInFlorida I’m sure if you go to some of their websites you can find answers to those questions; however, I don’t intend to support the Green Party because of the explanation I gave in my original comment.

@JPWhoo Not sure what the qualifications are...must be a percentage of voters?
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@JPWhoo i really don't spend my free time surfing the websites of 3rd parties. its their duty to reach out to the public

@4meAndyou Maybe. And if you’re not already on the ballot and therefore don’t have a chance to win a certain percentage of the vote, then maybe pay a fee and collect a certain number of signatures?

@SusanInFlorida They don’t have the resources to be able to reach out to the public, mostly because big corporations have bought out the two major parties so that’s all the mainstream media covers. It’s fine if you don’t want to support them though, I’d actually just as soon they not do well so the Democrats will have a better chance of beating the crazy Republicans.
