republicans have gotten too weird

it seems their key issues (constantly screaming about gender, CRT, and abortion bans) did *not* resonate with voters this midterm

Adam Frisch, who is still in a neck-and-neck race against Rep. Laurn Boebert in Colorado, was asked how he was faring so well in such a red district. He pointed out that the district is red because it is the mostly rural half of Colorado, and when your livelihood is largely dependent on nature -- raising crops, taking care of livestock, or being small town business people supporting those who do -- you tend to be pragmatic. And when your once or twice a year incomes from harvests have to stretch over a full-year's costs, the pragmatic thing is to be conservative. But a traditional, moderate conservative. So when he went into these communities and listened to them, and spoke to them, they first, respected the fact he listened to them; and second, when he talked of the practical steps he wanted to take as a pragmatic businessman himself to stabilize the economy and create opportunities, heads nodded all through the crowd. When he mentioned his opponent, the heads bowed, and shook sadly. They aren't interested in the anger, fear, and conspiracy theories. They just want the circus to leave town, he said.

@dancingtongue yeah I think thats a fair assessment. Anger and fear are potent motivators but absent of any sort of coherent plan I think you start to loose voters. Thats where republicans are kind of spinning their wheels. They have alot of smoke but no fire.
