An ironclad, accurate, fast voting system with ample independent audits wouldn't be very difficult. The only reasons why we don't have that in every state, every county of America is because some politicians want to preserve their right to cheat or game the system.
Banks know how much money they manage within seconds of a transaction, and they routinely process millions and millions of transactions every day. I can go to practically any ATM machine, withdraw $100 and run back home and check my bank account via the internet and the ATM transaction from minutes ago has already been accounted for.
I can go to my USAA account and pay a bill, and the money finds itself to the right payee within second, and by the end of the day millions and millions of transactions from all across the globe transfers or deposits or withdraws the money to and from the right accounts. If there is an exception to the above, someone who was expecting to receive the money or pay the money has the resources to discover that something isn't right and can start correcting the mistake.
The only exceptions are deliberate attempts to defraud, and that's always starts with someone pretending to be someone else. Fraud most often occurs with transactions that do not require a positive identification of the party initiating a transaction. So why do you think some politicians are against a voter ID check?
