Voter Fraud

What is " wrong " with asking everyone to provide a picture ID to vote ? We are a smart nation I'm certain that we can come up with a mobil ID machine. There are codes that can be used to identify what kind of ID it is. Only a picture, or driving, an immigrant not yet a citizen but in this country legal, public assistance only ect...

In order to be done without accusing one party of cheating, sadly theres going to have to be a representative from both parties be present when the picture are taken and signed off on. Thats just the way it is now, no use in complaining. I know that there are enough people on both sides who want to volunteer to help with elections that are willing to represent their party. To oppose some type of a solution only makes it look like you want non citizens to vote.

I know that there are poor people without assistance or home bound where the mobil ID can go to their homes. There are county buses who take people to Drs appointments even disabled people. There can be county buses that can take them for other assistance.. Has anyone without an ID ever been to a Drs appointment, grocery store, bought alcohol, cigarettes or gotten a controlled prescription ? If yes, then it means that getting an ID is possible. Yes it will cost states and counties more money but I personally have NO PROBLEM having my tax money going for something like this. ANYTHING to shut the f××× fighting the hell up.

This ISN't about the 2020 election....The qustion is simple

Does anyone have problem with picture ID's to vote? If so why?

@missyann I've got a problem with the bullshit certain people would pull as relates to requiring IDs.

For instance, let's say the governor of a rather large state with lots of sprawling rural areas get the bill passed requiring voters to have state issued photo IDs to vote. Then, in a bit of moderate tomfoolery, the governor of said state orders several rural DMVs to close down, leaving eligible voters who don't already have photo IDs stuck in the middle of the country with no DMV to go to.

I mean, I'm no expert on constitutional law, but that would seem to me to be deliberate oppression of a certain portion of the population.

@missyann As it is now, roughly 11 percent of Americans don't have government issued photo ID. That's over 20 million people. They're typically minorities, the disabled and the elderly. You know, the easiest to disenfranchise. There's also a cost attached and, obviously, people need to go where the photos are taken. Not everyone can do that.
Around half of the states already have strict photo ID requirement. But the point of this bullshit, pushed by the gutless conservative movement that KNOWS restricting voting helps them, and hurts others, is that it's a solution without a problem.
I have a feeling, although I could be wrong, is that we get our 'news' from different sources. Yours screams FRAUD. Mine, based on data, facts and all the GOP efforts to prove it, with ZERO success, says something different. I like my way better.

@Ynotisay I'm starting to think @missyann prefers to live a life of fear.
Ynotisay · M
@LordShadowfire Well, when you take a step back and look at a certain voting bloc of people, isn't fear at the core of most everything they're about? And I'm not saying that facetiously. Fear is what they're fed and fear drives how they behave. Which is why they need to tell anyone who will listen that they're 'strong.'

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

@Ynotisay I'm going to have to go look it up again, but there was a psychological study if I remember correctly, and it showed that people who vote Conservative Republican do have more fear and stress in their lives, and have a tendency to vote for people they consider strong and authoritative. Probably something to do with daddy issues.
Ynotisay · M
@LordShadowfire You're right. There's also been a couple of studies looking in to the "why's" and it appears there's actually a physiological difference between conservative and liberal brains. Obviously, geography and community have something to do with it. But there is proof that they're wired differently. But yeah. They do like their authoritarianism, huh? Almost wouldn't expect that from the 'freedom' crowd, huh? Funny how that works.
missyann · 56-60
@LordShadowfire Nope, not afraid. I just want to know exactly why people have a problem with IDs. Dems because Rep want or Rep because Dems don't. Do people truly believe that its hard for minorities ? Or believe that its not and just an excuse ? I truly want to hear reasons why or why not. I don't care if people think the election was stolen or not. Trump supporters think that was Biden supporters don't think it was

@missyann In the abstract, there is no issue with voter IDs, as long as everyone is issued one when they turn voter age, and they are easy to replace if lost. In practice, however, the voter ID issue is used to disenfranchise certain voters who are likely to vote for Democrats. In close elections, this can absolutely be the difference between winning and losing. I do have a problem with how voter IDs are issued and who can easily obtain them.
LordShadowfire · 100+, M
@missyann I don't like the idea because they can be abused. The state of Texas has defectively insured that rural voters will have to go miles out of their way, some of them hundreds, just to get an ID card in order to vote. Do you think they'll do it? Because I don't.
