If they love their country so much, they wouldn't believe that a guy who declared bankruptcy 8 times was married 3 times, has 27 sexual assault charges, has a $250million fraud suit against him, and stored top secret documents in his closet was capable of making sound, intelligent decisions.

That could be the case with some of them. For others, they existed before Trump. That's why he was able to make a whole conspiracy out of Obama not being American, bc he tapped into long standing racial issues and there's no shortage of white conservatives who have a bone to pick with black people

For the most part. It's like they became self-proclaimed constitutional experts overnight. It's not that they didn't care about politics before; they just didn't talk about it or claim to know more than others.

Liberal minded folks had a similar turnaround - i know MANY people who told me they did not care or pay attention to politics at all until Obama was on the ballot.

Everyone who ever said they are not political essentially has lied, even if they are not outwardly displaying their beliefs (or have not yet even consciously identified their own beliefs), nor actively participating in elections, but for the specific group of people you know personally, from zero to rabid all starting from the moment of the election of the first Black POTUS is just a weeeeee bit suspicious
