End the war on Drugs

There is a solution to the “World Drug Problem”. Open drug policy key concepts:

• Abolition of legal repercussions for consumption or possession of any substance

• A reasonable regulation of production, distribution and exchange of any substance, that is aimed at preventing consumption by non-autonomous persons

• Taking measures to rehabilitate people who faced criminal penalization in connection to non-violent drug-related offences

• Advocating for compassionate and tolerant attitude towards people who use psychoactive substances

• Encouraging science-based discussions and narratives to educate potential drug users of benefits, consequences and dangers of drug use.

"There is no war on drugs because you cannot have war against inanimate objects. There is only war on drug addicts"
- Dr. Gabor Matè

I've long thought it would be cheaper and produce a healthier society for drugs to be legalized, regulated, and taxed. Use the tax income to fund education and free rehab services for people who want to get off them.

Probably save a ton of money we currently spend in enforcement.

Because it's legal, the profit motive for building criminal enterprise around it evaporates. Thus eliminating trafficking and trafficking related violence.

It won't all be golden, but it only has to be better than now to be worth doing.

@ViciDraco Not to mention the positive effects legalizing drugs have included less burden on ER's, lower cost of healthcare, fewer overdoses, less communicable disease, lowered crime rates, and lessened homelessness. But who wants good stuff for society?
