Woke North Dakota School Board Dumps Pledge of Allegiance, Claims It Isn’t ‘Inclusive’

Board member Seth Holden said that because “the word ‘God’ in the text of the Pledge of Allegiance is capitalized … the text is clearly referring to the Judeo-Christian god and therefore, it does not include any other faith such as Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, all of which are practiced by our staff and students.”

Holden also said it excluded those in Fargo schools who don’t believe in god. He claimed he is not against the Pledge itself, but that it can’t be said in a school committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, Inforum reported.

Member Robin Nelson, who voted to keep the Pledge, didn’t see anything wrong with reciting it.

Just to note, the decision doesnt eliminate the recital of the Pledge of Allegence in Fargo schools, just at school board meetings. And it had only atarted reciting the pledge a few months before, so it isnt a longstabding tradition.

@MarmeeMarch im just clarifying, because the original story makes it seem like the decision was to stop saying the pledge in the school district.

@ItsSteve So it's ok for taxpayer supported school districts to not pledge allegiance to the country that fills their pockets with cash and ignore the will of the folks paying those taxes, eh?

@sunsporter1649 I mean, yes. In fact, Barnette v WV says that nobody can be obligated to say the pledge of alliegence at all.

Of course, if the voters of Fargo are that upset the school board has decided not to say the pledge at school .board meetings, theyre free to vote them out at tne next school board elections. They"re even free to try to recall them and schedule rlections early, as Fargo has that procedure.

I'll also, of course, remind you that the plantiffs in Barnette were religious people, Jehovah's Witnesses, whose religion forbids them from swearing .alliegence to any worldy government.
