Unefilletrescurieuse I studied mainline scripture for over thirty years (Abrahamic religions: Christian Bible, Jewish Torah, Moslem Koran) as well as The Book of Mormon. Whenever I had questions that the concordance could not answer, I researched further in books like "Who's Who in the Bible." Considered entering the seminary or become pastor. My maternal uncle became a pastor when he came back from two tours of Vietnam as a Marine who saw death firsthand, as well as rescue other Marines while under fire.
The Bible is a fascinating book of books that teaches how to live a good life, be a good person and treat others the way you'd want to be treated. I especially like the parables that teach through example, and believe they're written that way to have people think first. This builds character, fortitude, thoughtfulness, and consideration of others first. Love and happiness come from the inside, not the outside just as much as love is about giving - not receiving. The issue arises when people abuse scripture.
There's a neat survey that tests a person's knowledge about religion and scripture called the "Religious Knowledge Survey" consisting of 15 short questions. The first time I took it I answered all correct and 28 out of 32 correct on their longer one. Just took the 15 question test again moments ago and got 14 right, I must be getting rusty.
