Senate Democrats pass climate, tax and health care bill after marathon voting session'

Vice President Kamala Haris cast the ty breaking vote.

The Senate on Sunday passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) along party lines, 51-50, handing Democrats a crucial legislative win as the midterm cycle ramps up -- despite GOP objections at the billions in spending and drug pricing reforms.

The sprawling climate, tax and health care legislation is now set up for quick passage in the Democratic-controlled House, with timing still to be announced, before President Joe Biden signs it into law.

Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate with all Democrats in support of the legislation and all Republicans opposed. The proposal was passed via the budget reconciliation process, which requires a simple majority rather than the 60 votes typically needed to overcome a filibuster.
Amazing ! And they were able to do it with no Republican support. The GOP must really hate this country to deny its citizens basic healthcare.
@bijouxbroussard Plus it doesn't even make greed sense. Cause with both healthcare and climate change there are still tons of business opportunities and chances to make money.
Climate change you can make all kinds of renewable startups. Offer services for carbon capture. Water desalinization, etc... Health care you can make money in new therapies and patented medical devices, new drugs, cutting edge research, etc...
It's like those people that want to keep using a finite resource knowing it is finite but don't want to research any alternative and are then the first to complain when said resource runs out. Like you had a chance but you wasted it.
It's not like there isn't a demand for this stuff. It seems republicans don't even have good business sense yet are obsessed with profit🤦‍♀️
@canusernamebemyusername This is when one knows beyond any doubt, the GOP would screw over the country just to get back at the Democrats. No other reason.
@canusernamebemyusername Republicans aren't smart enough to research or develop medical devices. They aren't bright enough to realize that there can be a profit in solar and wind.
With republicans, it's profits regardless of cost to the environment or the country. I really don't see why they are so opposed to the illegal drug trade. Big profits there...

If only we, here, had a more positive outlook
I was just reading about your climate tax
countries that aren't embracing change should be hit with penalties
carbon footprints are getting smaller in some places but grow bigger elsewhere..nobody will be winning
we have solar here/household and will pretty soon be hit with "penalties" for using solar
the thing with the 3rd world is , everyone wants power , very few pay,
the few that embrace solar, must pay, so those who still are on the grid, can have their power
I don't think we are ready for change and won't be for another 100yrs
I was just about to post. No point now.

This will bring us carbons emissions down 42 percent by just 2030.
