@CopperCicada Because someone will cry violation of privacy. Hell, they do it with red light cameras. Can you imagine iris-scanning the common voter? For an iPone, sure. But for voting? And let's please make voting as laborious, difficult and tedious as humanly possible.

@Graylight Amazon is trialing palm print check out at Whole Foods. Biometrics are used to immediately serve specialized content to phones in commercial settings. It's where we're going to end up.
If you want to ID the human being, you need biometrics. If you are checking some form of identification you are really ID'ing whoever holds this card or document.
