The classic comment here is a "Quote" by Abraham Lincoln to the effect that America will never fall to outside enemies, but rot and collapse from within. And as tempting as it sounds, its a fraud. He never said it. But here is what he did say:
On Jan. 27, 1838, Lincoln spoke before the Young Men’s Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois, about "the perpetuation of our political institutions." During that address, he said: "At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."
Michael Burlingame, a chair in Lincoln studies at the University of Illinois Springfield, told us Lincoln "was denouncing mob violence which would lead to chaos, provoking the public to demand law and order, which would be provided by an ambitious leader who would rule tyrannically."
And if you bother to read it through. It sounds a lot more like the way Democracy could actually disappear from America in the current situation. With no one trusting the Government, and now trust being fast eroded in the courts..😷
The United States.

When a reporter for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command interviewed Frank Zappa for the commands news syndicate, the story was held by a superior who demanded that Zappa – who had been rather hard on the army – answer one more question: just who does he think will defend the country without the army?

Zappa’s reply: “From what? The biggest threat to America today is it’s own federal government…. Will the Army protect anybody from the FBI? The IRS? The CIA? The Republican Party? The Democratic Party?....The biggest dangers we face today don’t even need to sneak past our billion dollar defense system. They issue the contracts for them.”

The interview was not run.

@Really I cringe when I see things like 'car tyre' and 'kerb stone.' 😣 Just today, I saw someone write 'their' when she meant 'there.' And my pet peeve, is someone using 'was' when the correct passive verb is, 'were.'

But, I'm a grammar Nazi only for myself and don't correct other people's grammar. I just try to understand what they're trying to say, which isn't always easy. Oh, the ambiguities.

@PhoenixPhail See. if you grew up with tyre & kerb as proper spellings, which they were (still are?) in Britain, it takes years before tire & curb stop looking silly if not ignorant!
@Really As I correspond with people in the UK, my fingers have learned to insert a 'u' into words which the American versions don't include; neighbour, colour, honour.... It seems natural to me now.

@Nimbus Does he eat a lot of it or something? He is much healthier than trump could ever dream to be.
@Spunkylama Trumpsters can't criticize Biden for his policies, so this is what we get.

I wish the Radical Left was a mainstream thing. We don't even have a political party.
