The comment most seen is "if trump was president, Putin would not have invaded". In fact Trump gave Putin every reason not to invade while he was in office...........because Trump was making sure Putin was getting exactly what he wanted and Putin didn't have to spend a dime, lose a tank or one Russian life to get it. Trump made sure Ukraine was vulnerable to attack.........remember him denying Ukraine the help they asked for to protect themselves............unless he got his little something, something out of the deal? That gave the "Russian backed separatists" that we heard about on the news in the 2 eastern regions of Ukraine time to built up troops and weapons....and use those two provinces as bases to launch attacks internally in Ukraine. Trump refusing defensive weapons to Ukraine to stop that internal terrorism weakened Ukraine and Putin loved that. Plus Trump dissed NATO non-stop....and threatened to pull out of it and cause the collapse of NATO. That would have ensured that Ukraine could never join NATO. So EVERYTHING Putin wanted......was being handed to him on a plate by trump but then Putin wrongfully believed that Trump would win again and if so he for sure would have killed NATO his second term.
Obama and Putin were not butt buddies like he and trump were.....and so Biden was seen as an extension of Obama policies by Putin. As soon as the election was over Putin kicked an invasion of Ukraine into gear...before NATO gained U.S. support again....and talk about Ukraine joining surfaced again.
