It's really tough that Republicans can't lie to Congress and get away with it, and frankly, given the success of Trump's contemptuous attitude towards the law, Government, and other human beings, it makes sense for someone more concerned with their own welfare than the rest of the human race to refuse to testify.
Bannon, for example, is still free, and all he's really facing is a contempt charge, which probably won't stick after midterms.

I would add that the SW users who most insist upon his innocence are the ones who refuse to provide evidence on SW.
