House Democrats are sitting on security for Supreme Court justices

The safety of Supreme Court justices should be a priority of the U.S. Congress following the arrest of an armed man near Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home on Wednesday. The Senate recognized the need for increased security protocols in early May.

Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Chris Coons (D-DE) introduced the Supreme Court Police Parity Act of 2022 on May 5, 2022, and it passed with unanimous consent on May 9. The bill extends existing security protocols to the immediate family members of Supreme Court justices.

The House of Representatives has neglected to take any action on the bill. House Democrats bucked their Senate colleagues and came out against the bill.

Mebbe, but why are we just protecting Supreme Court Justices and not lower court judges. Or are we?

I get McConnell's play here, and I get Garlands refusal to put peaceful protesters in leg irons and call Friends of Ruth Domestic terrorists and prosecute them more swiftly without due process then he did with the Proud Boys or other anarchistic white wing groups that have a longer and more probable history of collaboration with criminal organizations like the Trump Organization, but honestly, I think she's got bigger fish to fry at the moment and since this guy has been nabbed we can give Garland and the "deep state" DOJ at least a day or two before we cry unequal treatment.

Its not like Garland is rushing to prosecute a genuine armed... um.." mostly peaceful protest" aimed at getting the Vice President and Congress to violate their oaths of office or face hanging at the hands of a"mostly peaceful" angry mob taking advantage of the civilized behavior of police trying to do their jobs and protect institutions they themselves want to destroy.
