6 January insurrectionist on trial for his actions who groomed a Hitler mustache and hair combover like Hitler states his defense:

"Yes, I entered the Capitol on that day, but I'm from New Jersey and I didn't know that's where Congress meets." He claimed he didn't know there was an actual building called "the Capitol." He admitted, "it's idiotic and embarrassing." His attorney told the jury he has "a desperate desire to be heard" and makes "extreme statements for attention."

He was convicted by a jury of 6 misdemeanors and 1 felony. He is on a video yelling profanities at police officers and screaming, "The revolution will be televised!" He has posted on social media he wanted to start a civil war.

He can face up to 20 years behind bars for the felony of obstructing an official proceeding. The ultimate sentence, however, will likely be far lower. Sentencing will take place in September.

Is "stupid" a crime?

@fanuc2013 Be grateful that it is not.

@CorvusBlackthorne True, that would fill our prisons in seconds!

To be clear, his defense is that he is an utter imbecile?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@CorvusBlackthorne Well, yeah. The good news, I guess you could say is the jury didn't buy it. They convicted him on all counts on the basis they believed he wasn't an utter imbecile. So, he has that validation he can take with him.

@MarkPaul Well that's good. That makes it more difficult for Trump to use the imbecile defense.
