I was just accused of playing partisan politics in my last post. Really? There's no such thing these days. We can barely coexist!

Who can “unite” with 70 - 80 million people in the US who are no longer interested in America being a democracy or a democratically governed constitutional republic? The Republicans want an authoritarian theocracy through sheer force of will and the raw exertion of power. They are going to try and force their values on everyone with whom they don’t agree.

It’s not that there’s no common ground anymore. There are no common facts anymore in the US. That’s one of the things in Timothy Snyder’s book on Tyranny. It’s a necessary precursor for bringing in fascism or authoritarianism. Nothing is true anymore.

If there are no common facts anymore then you can’t have good faith arguments, honest debates, and open discussions. I absolutely love to have good faith arguments and enjoy finding I'm wrong, but I will not be told I'm wrong by someone quoting right-wing conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson.

I never thought in my lifetime I would see what’s happening in the US. There are tens of millions of people who essentially want to overthrow the government and replace it with an authoritarian theocracy. The US is about to lose its democracy.

If I was an American I would emigrate.
@LegendofPeza Thankfully I'm a Californian and not an American, but I am looking at South of France as a good place to retire.
@independentone Make sure you still vote.
@BohemianBabe I'm not sure it is even worth my time filling out a ballot and mailing it in. I'm pretty disgusted with both parties at the moment.
@independentone Which is fair, but keep in mind that the Democrats still believe in Democracy.
The Democrats are basically just a big wall that we vote in to keep out Fascism. The wall itself is brainless, serving an nothing but an obstacle for the Fashies.
@BohemianBabe I was for most of my voting life registered as Democrat, but I was always moderate. The Democrat party no longer represents my views and values. I consider the progressives just as distasteful as the Republican kkk caucus.
@independentone I don't agree with the Democrats either, but how on earth are they anywhere near as bad as the Republicans? Republicans are trying to turn America into a Dictatorship. Democrats are just failing to make good on their promises. But of these things are bad, but one is waaaaay worse.
@BohemianBabe Oh, I agree, the Republicans are very anti-American. They really seem to idolize people like Putin, but the progressives aren't much better. Giving everyone everything for free isn't my idea of capitalism either. Unless the moderates from center left and center right can come together and boot the extremists out, I don't see much of a future for this country.
@independentone Which Democrats want to give everyone everything for free?
I know some Democrats want to make healthcare more affordable, but that's not having everything for free.

@BohemianBabe 🙄Not the Democratic Party I remember in the 60's. They have an agenda now too. 😞

@independentone Research history! The founders of the KKK were Democrats.

@independentone Republicans are Very Patriotic. Make America Great Again vs.
Build Back Better?
@BohemianBabe Healthcare should be universal, but forgiving student loans, $15 an hour minimum, and in Ca it will be on the ballot for $18 an hour. That just drives up costs for everything and is one of the driving forces for this inflation we now have. Free college, free child care, it just gets too expensive.
@Montanaman Southern Democrats don't count. The South should have been kicked out of the union long ago. Lincoln's biggest mistake was going to war to keep those losers in the union.
@Montanaman Republicans would like to force everyone to go to church. Want to tell women what they can do with their body. Want to destroy the environment to make a few bucks. Pollute rivers and oceans. Republicans are out of their fucking minds.

@independentone 'but I am looking at South of France as a good place to retire.'

Well I beat you to it bud , but I can definitely recommend it. 😉
@Montanaman
Research history! The founders of the KKK were Democrats.

Perhaps you can explain why, knowing this, today’s Republicans fly and support the Confederate battle flag ? And why both David Duke and Thom Robb (leaders in today’s KKK) are staunch Republicans ?

Especially if they still claim the label of "Party of Lincoln", why would they ever carry the flag of those who assassinated him ? 🤔

History also tells us that former "Dixiecrats” like Strom Thurmond left the Democrats to join the Republicans when blacks became more active in the Democratic Party.
That pretty much says it all. 🙁

@bijouxbroussard just saying, it's what I read.🤷‍♀️
Besides, I'm actually sick to death of all this political division. Sick to death of left vs. Right. Sick to death of labels on people as a group. Of biased opinions, "all Republicans are racist " or "All democrats are communists " 🙄🤯
ect ect ect...i just want to go fishing and have a beer, and forget the world. 👍😎✌️
