I read this yesterday about pro-control/ pro-forced births. What do you think about it?

Here’s the thing

It doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter when life begins.

It doesn’t matter whether a fetus is a human being or not.

That entire argument is a red herring, a distraction, a subjective and unwinnable argument that could not matter less.

It doesn’t matter whether we’re talking about a fertilized egg or a fetus, or a baby or a five-year-old, or a Nobel Prize-winning pediatric oncologist.

NOBODY has the right to use your body, against your will, even to save their life, or the life of another person.

That’s it.

That’s the argument.

You cannot be forced to donate blood, marrow, or organs, even though hundreds of thousands die every year on waiting lists.

They cannot even harvest your organs after your death without explicit, written, pre-mortem permission.

Denying women the right to an abortion means we have less bodily autonomy than a corpse.

very few seem to grasp or are willing to say up front that draconian religious belief -- not just pertaining to women's "roles" but superstitions about the universe more broadly that are considered sacrosanct -- is the real basis of the abortion issue. Anti-abortion legislation is ultimately based on theological arguments rather than objective facts. Religious belief only works on a very personal level; to try to scale it as all-encompassing national policy is folly. That's why the GOP's ongoing dalliance with right-wing evangelicals will eventually bite all of us in the ass -- themselves, included.

The religious far-right extremists will be the death of the US.

@Randi1125 I absolutely hate how politicized this issue has become. It happened because four justices committed perjury, so no, not a due and legal process. They knowingly lied about their intentions. The three appointed by TFG were put on the court for this express purpose. It’s delusional to pretend otherwise. it’s going to lead to this:

Yes! We all knew they lied, didn't we? There's so much more to it as well. They don't care about the children once they're born. It's never been about life. It's always been about feeding capitalism/the prison industrial complex. Quality of life doesn't matter if it makes money. All they want is more brainwashed fools to toil their lives away so that they can line their pockets. It’s also a voting platform for them and more money for the churches!
