I'm British and it's a secular country. Abortion has been a settled issue for decades.
Our nearby Ireland is less so; it's famously catholic and small-town socially conservative. They voted in a referendum to legalise abortion in 2018. Something which doesn't look likely to be overturned. Though yes, there is some resistance to it in some places.
America looks like a country going backwards because a bunch of religious zealots have gained the system.
