Perhaps Mr. Shapiro should refrain from discussing matters of which he knows nothing?

I'm not sure if you are familiar but this was hilarious.

Shapiro got critical questions and spat his dummy out. He called Andrew Neil (a household name in UK broadcasting and a Conservative) a leftist that nobody had ever heard of. It would be like me going on US TV and telling Rachael Maddow that she was a Conservative who nobody had ever heard of. Arrogant and clueless.

UK media culture leans to the centre-right but one of the features is that journalists ask all political figures taxing questions. It's in the journalistic ethic. Neil is very good at that and has professional standards, even if he is the chairman of the Spectator Magazine.

Shapiro did no research and completely humiliated himself. Even he later admitted he got this badly wrong.

@Burnley123 I remember this. The hard part? Knowing that there were probably some in the audience who associated this con man with the U.S. and that he represents who we are.

@Ynotisay Obviously, I'm a politics nut so I know who Ben Shapiro is.

The 'average' UK person can make distinctions too though. The US right is seen as 'crazy' and off the scale. That has been true at least since George W Bush. People here know what Fox News is and we take the piss out of it but we know it's only watched by a section of American society. Obama was popular in the UK and Europe, though personally, I am some way to the left of him.

@Burnley123 VERY glad to hear that. Thanks. Guilt by association is a tough thing to swallow.

@Ynotisay I hope you don't judge all Brits by Nigel Farage. 😊

@Burnley123 HA. I know enough about him to judge Brits, at least the ones I'd want to be around, in the exact opposite manner. :)
