Realistically, can the UK really secure our own energy if Russia is not an option?

Apparently, wind and solar are not dependable. So how long is going to take before we secure a dependable source?

The United Kingdom imports nearly three times as much imported crude oil and natural gas liquids from the United States than Russia and over four times as much from Norway.
