Why Russia calls on China for mlitary assistance

Russian military operations in Ukraine is failing spectaculary thanks to the Russian militatarys corruption in its ranks and its incompetence regarding strategy and becuase of the heroic resistance of the Ukranian defenders so Russia is left to call on its sugardaddy China for military asistance.

China has aggressively denied this claim as American propaganda.

Normally I would no more believe the Peking government than I would believe the Kremlin, but I think on this they may be right.

Two reasons:

- There has been no suggestion of Putin wanting such help in men or equipment, despite him agreeing with his generals' suggestion of bringing in Syrian mercenaries. If he wanted Chinese help I think he might say so publicly - he might be able to keep arms imports by road and rail from China secret, for a short time at least, but not personnel.

- The Peoples' Republic of China is rather vaguely but consistently determined to stay neutral in this war, even though nominally allies of Russia. If anything it is the only country likely to be able to persuade Putin diplomatically to stop attacking the Ukraine - he will not listen to anyone else.

@ArishMell Agreed.

China has no interest in this war. It is nominally allied to Russia due to trade and shared enemies but China is the dominant party in that relationship. It has no interest or need to get involved.

@Burnley123 Thank you.

Not in the Ukraine itself they aren't, but see my other post on the suggestion of a wider context, from their point of view.

Putin should be totally embarrassed if it came to this and ultimately China might think it a prime time to overthrow Russia seeing as they are weak.
BigBulge · 41-45, M
I really don't think China will want to get involved in this.

@BigBulge They seem to be trying to avoid it, though their political stance and internal propaganda is pro-Russian.

One analysis I have heard is that China is probably not interested in the Ukraine, but sees the war in the wider context as a blow against the West, especially America.

Russia is short on drones and ammo.
