I support lifting mask mandates until we hear about the next variant coming up. When that happens, then we should reconsider. But for now, it seems Omicron is getting under control
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@33person I sincerely hope you are correct.

RosaMarie · 41-45, F
I'm very much pro vaccine... And it is way past time to lift mask mandates.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
@CorvusBlackthorne You are literally the first person on here that I've seen change their minds based on data. Holy shit I'm freaking out right now. *hugs you.*

Everyone needs to see this great example of how to think for yourself. Crazy ass conservatives, I'm talking to you!
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@RosaMarie I try very hard to reach my conclusions based on observable, repeatable evidence. New evidence is always welcome, but seldom forthcoming. So I also must thank you.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
@CorvusBlackthorne Kudos to you. That kind of thinking is vanishingly rare.

It's strange that it's happening here in Oregon of all places because I'm in Oregon, and It's rare that you see anyone even try to challenge the mask ruling.

Mind you we've seen plenty of masks improperly put on and stupidity, but honestly it was the minority of observations.

Oregon is a unique state, We have taken the idea of being pioneer's very seriously and that means we take great state pride in undertaking experiments that would be otherwise unthinkable elsewhere.

We are of course the Origin of America's Doctor assisted suicide state, where the fight originally was sparked, we vote by Mail which honestly our state reps DO represent us in saying ought to be national policy.

The last time Anything significant happened and the rest of the country saw us was when everyone found out we don't pump our own gas and some of the people born here don't even know how. (an affliction I don't personally suffer from as a native, but mostly because I'm well travelled, And have been North of the Border before as well.)

In every sense of the word we ARE pioneers and do very much so try to be the First in the nation to do many things.

But honestly? we're docile, compared to elsewhere.

Gentle, non-aggressive, people rarely cut you off in traffic, they yield.

Not likely to defy the mask order.

Considering most people don’t wear a mask anyway, the mandate is pointless. I have to wear a mask at my job but none of the customers do. It’s literally pointless if no one else is doing it.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@666Maggotz Sadly, yes.
NinjaChicken · 41-45, F
Its a double edged sword, even with the mandate, I would walk in a grocery store and only 35% of people would be wearing them. If they were asked to put one on, it would be a theatrical drama.
RedBaron · M
Do you live in either of those states? If you don't, quit worrying about what you can't control.
RedBaron · M
@CorvusBlackthorne I have no idea. People on here talk about a lot of stuff irrelevant to them.
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@RedBaron That is true. I had not thought of that.

@doong You are the one making a positive assertion which flies in the face of medical advice, not I. However, here is an article which outlines the reason why I predict disaster:

@CorvusBlackthorne Cases jump to thousands, not death. You're assumption was thousand will die because of unmasked.
You are still wrong
CorvusBlackthorne · 100+, M
@doong Many cases end in death, particularly among the elderly and immunocompromised, sir. And even more cases will result in permanent disability.
