everyone thinks putin is a nutcase

this is getting very worrying when now putin is putting his nuclear forces on high alert . what does putin expect europe and the world to do exactly sit back and let him invade and kill innocent ukrainians . god forbid this happens but if this ever gets resolved peacefully putin will be treated in a totally different light.i think putin persecution complex has come to the fore with good reason . you cannot invade a country with no valid reason and not expect any reaction

@MethDozer The fact he's the one whose finger is supposed to press the button actually gives him additional power, albeith for short, to override all those oligarchs. Hopefully whoever is in charge of physically executing the order has some better judgement, but I don't believe in that enough to sleep decently tonight. On top of everything, if I recall correctly, the #1 of those oligarchs by wealth is Putin himself, no?

@Subsumedpat I think the man wanted to make a point with the world, hoping for something prior to invading. I think his angered reaction was the way he dealt with being ignored for whatever it was he really wanted. He knows if he has any ambitions and wants to see them come to fruition; short of Russia being attacked directly, he will not use nuclear weapons.

He's doing what anyone in his position would. Ukraine cannot be allowed to join the NATO, it compromises Russia's power in Eastern Europe. Nuclear warfare is an intimidation strategy and it will not happen.
