Why do we play it at all?

Florida’s GOP senators are attempting to fix a problem that doesn’t exist (again) by requiring the national anthem to be played before professional sporting events.

In Florida, it's already played before all professional sporting events. But let's mandate it, and then we can come up with a cool hand salute everyone has to do...

Why doesn't DeathSantis just commission his own dictatorial song and mandate that it be played along with a Sieg Heil?

@anythingoes477 Noted 😊
@spjennifer I honestly thought it was a joke when he announced his candidacy. I also thought Schwarzenegger did a much better job on The Apprentice.

@LordShadowfire Ole DuhDonald is a grifter, not an actor so no surprise Arnold did a better job, I never watched the show as I can't stand tRump and never could. No I wasn't surprised he decided to run, what a bonus for a narcissist and an egotist to vie to become President, he's always wanted to but as he supported the Dems till 5 years ago, they never wanted him, lol 😄
Thank god Florida's radical do nothing liars could do this. But.........question? Does anyone know of any professional sporting event in America where the National Anthem is NOT played before the game? So let me help...............no you don't.

So once again........our GOP heroes have invented a problem that don't exist....and then they "fixed" it for us. Yah!!!! Hopefully next they can stop copper mining permanently......in our churches. Or drugging chickens. Or getting rid of giant spiders that are eating people. Just make it up...rile up stoopid people with how bad it is..and then magically "fix it" the next day......so you can get the same stoopid people to thank you. Does this side show ever end????
@anythingoes477 It is an attempt to get democrats to vote against a complete waste of time so they can use is as a gotcha later.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Ya know if someone said you criticized me for saying I took credit for solving a problem that didn't---and never has existed......I'd have to take that as a compliment. The only gotcha in that is pointing out some idiot is playing to stoopid people to get a vote....by using nothing but a complete lie to do it.
@anythingoes477 That is exactly the problem. The GOP is counting on their base being functionally stupid.
The GOP is clever, aren't they? They accomplish so much. Like one promises he will never allow..EVER.....the sport hunting of Polar Bears in Florida........then two days later he says, "see....if it wasn't for the me and the GOP they'd still be killing Polar Bears in Florida".

"We are GONNA swear to you.....we will never allow the teaching of a subject that is not taught anyway". And by golly...two days later some clown is taking bows and asking us to say thanks to the him and the GOP because that subject STILL isn't taught anywhere. DUH! Then he goes on FOX and tells truly stupid people.......I am working hard...for you to make sure that things that never existed...still don't. And the dummies all go....YAH!!!!.....what a guy!!!!!!!!!

@anythingoes477 This is the most irritating game they play because it's so singularly divisive and grift-ish.

CRT that doesn't exist? Outlawed!
Mask mandates that don't exist (but would save lives, anyway? Outlawed!
Voting fraud? Taken care of! We just won't let the wrong people vote.

I'm currently in the market for a t-shirt with my response to everything these days: This is bullsh*t.
@Graylight If you like bullshit....buy a Q t-shirt. That is NOTHING but bullshit. lol

I always wondered why this has to be played at sporting events. It's not played at the movies. "Please stand for the National Anthem before today's showing of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'" To dodge any controversy, a college team I follow sends the players out of the tunnel after the anthem is played. No kneeling issues.

@graphite The national anthem used to be played after films in cinemas in the UK.

That's insecurity for you, when something comes out as overly forced it's because they think they have to compensate for something which makes them dangerous. Insecurity comes out as aggression often.

@SatanBurger Said just that to someone this morning.

Well, my opinion is we play the National Anthem and fly the American Flag to respect all the lives lost defending the country.
Simple respect.

@LordShadowfire Hmmmm, I am pretty sure Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 ? An ally of Germany in WWII.
Maybe I am wrong, I am not a historian?
@Teslin First of all, the Nazis would never have been allies with the Japanese. At least not for very long.

But you're right. I was forgetting the Japanese attacked on American soil.
Teslin · M
@LordShadowfire Maybe I mis-spoke when I said "defending".
It is jingoist bullshit. It exists just to create a scenario where they can claim the Democrats or certain Republicans voted against it even though it is a total time waster.
If we don't, the average far right American might be forgiven for thinking they've suddenly woken up in another country. They aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, after all.

@swirlie As far as I know, the concept of a national anthem is a British invention. They were just brown nosing the then current monarch.. :)
