Will he even run in 2024? Political events can change dramatically in 3 years -- ask Clinton who faced terrible mid-terms in his first term in office and then things changed. IMO he opts not to run for re-election: ideally, because the waters have been calmed and he declares victory and retirement; otherwise he does an LBJ for the good of the country.
