Who the hell even is George Soros. I've been told for years that I idolize and revere him but I don't even know what he's famous for, or why.

Can somebody give me like the Cliff Notes summary of Soros?

George Soros made billions of dollars in the currency exchange markets. To summarize why that is wrong: it doesn't generate any economic growth, but gains $ money on the shifts of currency exchanges... meaning, billions for him (and others like him) who are paying attention on a daily basis - and without spurring economic growth it's a zero-sum exchange, i.e. - normal investors lost $ billions to him. It's legalized theft.

So what's he done with the money - support on a massive scale, far-left parties, movements, organizations throughout the world - causing significant havoc in many democracies. Nearly all the Attorney General's (AG) in states and cities that have released large numbers of criminals, declined to prosecute 3/4 of even violent crime, and have created that turnstile in jail because no one is ever held on bail - is the most direct cause of the massive increase in murders and crimes in America. Secondary causes are even't close. it's directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds (probably thousands), and the destruction of so many businesses and jobs.

So yeah... that's who he is. He wants to destroy countries in order to create a centralized control, for only those one political bent. Yup.

@SW-User So, from what everybody else seems to be saying, this is mostly true. He doesn't support far left parties though, it seems he supports bland milquetoast centrist corporate liberal parties. Which in my opinion is a lot worse
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick It may be both - but he certainly supports (and funds at a high level) far left organizations and movements, often violent ones, and he is certainly a huge supporter of the recent generation of DA and AGs who are releasing criminals back onto the streets.

@SW-User Provide to me an example of one of these far left groups. I'm finding it hard to believe because I myself am pretty far left and yet nobody I correspond with has anything positive to say about Soros and nobody seems to even acknowledge his existence.

@BlueMetalChick Gave the example in another post. Look harder. I mean he tries to operate under the public eye... but look harder.

@SW-User You named an effort to release violent criminals convicted of murder or attempted murder. That's not a left wing cause. I can say from experience of running in those circles that there's no initiative or movement to release anyone convicted of a violent crime. I'm not telling you that the movement doesn't exist, or that Soros doesn't support it, but what I am telling you is that it is not connected to or supported by leftism.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Ok... but it's a George Soros cause.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User That's fine. I'm not gonna try to tell you that Soros isn't supporting such a cause because I have no idea if he is or not, and considering he's super rich, I really wouldn't doubt it. But I can tell you that it's not far left. It's probably some pseudo-libertarian or more likely AnCap nonsense.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Ok, so it's not far left. But it's not controversial or contentious that he supports such causes. His funding is public record. There's no debate there. One can have an opinion about it, but not that he does it.

@SW-User I personally believe that nonviolent drug offenders should be released from prison because I don't believe drugs should be illegal to begin with. People who make and ship drugs is a bit of a different story. I can see a case to be made that there should be legal punishment for distributors and drug kingpins and stuff like that. But even drugs like cocaine or heroin or speed, I don't think you should go to jail for having them or for using them. A lot of drugs I think should be legalized and regulated, most notably cannabis but also psychotropics like magic mushrooms, LSD, DMT, or mescaline. Other drugs like coke, heroin, meth, or speed, I think should be legal but not commercially sold. So like, if you get your hands on some, you should be able to use it, but it's not like you can go to the store and buy it.

@BlueMetalChick I don't disagree... but... that process... which had bipartisan support.. has now evolved into large number of violent criminals and murderers being constantly returned to the streets. So yes... I agree with you - but not for those who commit violence against others.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User That process only has bipartisan support in nominal conversations. Both parties take a tremendous amount of money from the private prison industry, who wants drugs to remain illegal so they can increase their profits.
