Would you support lockdowns for the unvaccinated ?

Austria is days away from ordering millions of unvaccinated people to stay at home, its chancellor has said, in a rare move that underscores the increasing exasperation of European leaders towards those who have not yet been inoculated against Covid-19.

Under Austria's plan, which was agreed in September, unvaccinated Austrians will face a stay-at-home order once 30% of intensive-care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients. The current rate is 21%, according to the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), and a surge in infections has pushed it up quickly.

Unvaccinated people are already excluded from entertainment venues, restaurants, hairdressers and other parts of public life in Austria. If the new measures come into place, the unvaccinated will be ordered to stay home except for a few limited reasons; the rules will be policed by officers carrying out spot checks on those who are out.

Around 65% of Austria's population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, one of the lower rates in the European Union.
''It is clear that this winter will be uncomfortable for the unvaccinated," Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg warned on Thursday.

@ShadowWorker And this illustrates exactly how right wing media has made this about partisan bullshit and makes sure people are not informed about the basics of how a vaccine even works. Avoid the actual issue and send everyone down a culture war rabbit hole. Meanwhile everyone telling you the vaccine is evil is almost certainly vaccinated. Evidenced by how they all get real squirrely when asked directly about it.

@ShadowWorker That is a false dichotomy. Only one side is making a medical issue a test of loyalty to the party and spreading outright lies that are killing people...literally. The vast majority of deaths now are people with are A. from a red state, and B. have not been vaccinated. We are talking about 90% of all deaths here. This is not a coincidence.

This is also why right wing talk radio hosts are dropping like flies.

@ShadowWorker People are fed up. 3/4 take precautions..isolate..get the vaccinations. That "SHOULD" be ending this so things can open back up safely and we all go back to life. But it only takes one carrier in a crowd of deniers to make sure none of that happens and all we have done for a year to make sure WE don't get it or spread it...is all for nothing. And there is a LOT of carriers and deniers. It isn't rocket science to know who those folks are. Look at the amount of deaths in EVERY red state...number of total cases.....vs. the number of cases and deaths in blue states. It is now a requirement to prove you're a REAL Republican to diss facts....love conspiracy theories and lies.....and refuse the vaccine. You can know EXACTLY how someone voted by just asking them if they have been vaccinated. The ones who want this to end DO something to make it end. Trumpers demand everything open up...while making sure it can't. And they cannot seem to connect those dots. To those with an IQ higher than an eggplant....that's frustrating and dividing.

@anythingoes477 Patience has finally run out in Europe with those simply refusing to even consider getting vaccinated. If they can't be cajoled nor coerced then they will now be deprived of some liberties. This move by Austria is long overdue imo and I expect other nations to quickly follow suit. It's time to let these clowns now that their (in)actions will have consequences.

Blame the Republicans. They are the ones who literally refuse to listen to common sense and tell people that the vaccines are far safer than the disease. They refuse because they don't want to be seen as standing against Donald Trump.

I dare say you probably haven't met anyone who has gotten it.

Hatred comes from anger, which comes from fear. There are those of us who fear the disease, and those people who fear the preventative. The people who fear the preventative have been misinformed.

It's literally that simple.
