There’s always some fraud in elections. But rarely enough to change the result.

@JimBeam JFK was elected due to fraud (dead people). Naturally it was the same as today. They did NOT want to know the details. It was only a couple precincts in Chicago that caused JFK to win Illinois. Fraud does NOT have to be massive. That's democrap thinking. They're the ones who traffic in it.

Hypothetically, whoever rightfully wins should get the position. In all of our democracies, whether we like the true winner or not, that’s how it should work.

@JimBeam Thank you. I’ve been disappointed in election results in the past, as I’m sure we all have been. I do truly believe in the system (at least where I am).

They don't care as long Trump loses. Thinking they're done with Trump living in their heads.
And he still livs inside their heads giving them strange imaginations.

If you think Trump lives in their heads now, just wait until next summer when he goes on the campaign trail supporting the Republicans he wants to support. No one can fire up a crowd like Trump can. And Twitter can't do shit about it. LOL

If Trump would have won but for fraud with the popular vote, its a really tough question, but I'd go with sticking with the electoral college and Congressional certification this time around and trying to fix things so it doesn't happen again as opposed to ignoring the Constitution and crowning Trump.
Either way, no matter what proof might turn up, I think we should revisit the Constitution because I don't trust our Supreme Court on this one without more guidance from "we the people."

No, don't give up hope. Hypothetical questions are taught in philosophy and logic classes in college.
Trust me on this, most people fail those classes, because they can't think outside the box.
If you're given two choices, and you make up your own answer, then you really aren't cut out for logic classes.
People who can't really deal with logic, would be better suited for political science or gender studies programs.

Our constitution never anticipated this level of corruption , but the actual winner should be in office
carpediem · 61-69, M
It's a great question. I'd prefer the legally chosen guy. Whoever that is. BUT.... any fraudulent activities should have consequences for those that committed the fraud. Even if it's one vote.

I think Texchick got it right -

Hypothetically. I'd want the rightful winner to assume the role. The values and principles of this nation for history far supersede any temporary political gain. If I wasn't a supporter of the winner, I'd work to help create change.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
A democratic nation cannot survive if it doesn't follow its own laws on how our leaders are selected. A second Trump term would have been a complete and utter disaster for this country — hell, the first term alone was a complete and utter disaster. That said, had Trump legitimately won the election, had there actually been election fraud, then yes, Trump should have remained as president.

I think the standard of proof should be quite high. Not just that there was some fraud - there is some, or at least some irregularity, in all elections - but that it was of a serious nature, is indisputable, and clearly large enough to change the result. If those things were proven, then something should be done, but there’s a difficult question as to what. Re-install Trump in the White House? Hold the election again?

In person voting on Election Day only after producing a valid picture ID. If you can’t be there on Election Day, unless you’re in the military and deployed overseas, you don’t get to vote. Life is full of choices.
Stopmakingsense · 61-69, F
@redredred sounds heavy handed and not close to universal sufferage. Doesn't a country have to actually poll nearly the entire voting population to be legit?
redredred · M
On a good Election Day we get maybe fifty percent turnout so we’ve been getting by with far less than universal for centuries.@Stopmakingsense

Actually, Trump was for absentee ballots, because you have to ask for one. But now they just hand them out to everyone, so you might get them for people who used to live where you live. I got three, and my sister-in-law got two. And lord knows how many you could get out of all the dumpsters in town.

Ah, ok.
Elections, if fair, etc., need to be followed.

Gee-. Bernie really was robbed but you feel free to talk about a fake theft without mentioning it. Huh.

I don't want either of those things.
