It's NOT racist
And if you understand history you would know that and you would also know that the war between the states wasn't about slavery ... it was about states rights vs federal government rights ... the south didn't want to take over they wanted to leave

@pdockal Yeah, because they wanted the right to own other human beings. That's literally the reason they wanted to secede.

@LordShadowfire WRONG ... both the north and south were slave owners ... slavery goes to Roman empire and before ... most slaves were traded for from African tribes who were conqured

@losthorizons enough with the name calling ... it shows ignorance and isn't necessary

@pdockal The North had already outlawed slavery. While I don't agree that Lincoln should have had the freedom to dictate to the states what laws they should pass, that wasn't the main issue. It was literally an issue of slave ownership.

@pdockal I guess you've never read the Declarations of Secession that each state sent to the government, igniting the Civil War then.
Every one of them mentioned slavery.
Every one of them mentioned slavery.

@pdockal most of the articles of secession make reference to slavery. And no one was even telling them not to have slaves at the time. They actually freaked out for no reason except paranoia when Lincoln was elected. The burning issue was slavery in the territories not the south.
