If the Confederate flag is always racist no matter what, why didn't anyone view the Duke Boys as being Klan members when they flew it over their car?

I was always taught the Confederate flag was a symbol of anti establishment. Never heard it being about racism til a few years ago. Considering I bought my confederate flag from a black man who was selling all kinds of Confederate flag stuff I thought he agreed with me.

And the Dukes helped black people to get away from a crooked system that they were rebelling against.
@Bobby1123422 Yes, that is correct. That is what it use to stand for. But times change, and word(and symbols) get new meanings.
@TheSentinel It was always a symbol of racism whether whites acknowledged it or not. The only reason the Confederate battle flag existed was because part of our country went to war for the right to own other human beings. There’s no getting around that. And during the 20th century they were flown by segregationists who were undeniably racists. When Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, some flew them in celebration. 😞

@bijouxbroussard the war was about states rights, limiting the power of the federal government
@losthorizons The right to own other human beings. Look up the Secession documents. You will read, in their own words, why the Southern states chose to secede. To a man, the representatives stated concerns that slavery would be abolished and their economy and way of life would be affected.

@bijouxbroussard states rights
@losthorizons The states’ right to own human beings.
What aren’t you understanding ?

@losthorizons don’t stand behind that straw man

@losthorizons How do you figure @bijouxbroussard is the one being stupid here? Do you legitimately not get that the whole reason why the southern states wanted to secede was because they wanted to keep the right to enslave people?
@losthorizons I didn’t insult you and tell you to go back to your Klan meeting, did I ? So get off the meth pipe.
@LordShadowfire No Bijoux isn't being stupid. You are if you defend slavery.
@TheSentinel @losthorizons couple of privileged white boys are ya?

@losthorizons Why do you insist on calling people names simply because they disagree with you? It's incredibly rude. Not that I think you have any desire to educate yourself but, I'm posting this for you any way. It's a study of the succession documents created by each state as the reason they went to war.

https://www.battlefields.org/learn/articles/reasons-secession#:~:text=Every%20state%20in%20the%20Confederacy%20issued%20an%20%E2%80%9CArticle,which%20explain%20their%20decision%20to%20leave%20the%20Union.

The argument regarding why each state succeeded has been something people have disagreed about since the Civil War started.

For the record, I don't believe you're "African American." Most black people call themselves black. But, I know you'll just call me terrible names because I'm disagreeing with you, and admonishing you on how you've conducted yourself here under your obvious sock account. Also for the record, I'm the one who downvoted every rude post you made here. Doesn't matter the color of your skin. You're a nasty individual. I feel sorry for you.
@SW-User He clearly has the emotional maturity of a very angry and hateful teenager. Must be magic being in his company

It's called an ad hominem attack. It's commonly used by people who have no evidence to back up their argument and don't want to admit it.
@losthorizons
I’m African American you fucking moron
I doubt it. You’re either totally ignorant about our history, my brother, or you’re the biggest brainwashed Tom around. 🙄

@losthorizons States' Rights were so important to the Confederacy that they put a clause in their constitution prohibiting any state from ever abolishing slavery.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@OggggO The states rights argument is a racist one, meant to obscure reality and offer some kind of ethical escape for those who don't like to look directly at racism.
