@SW-User As for the UK, when king Henry, angered over being denied annulments from his multiple scandalous marriages, denounced the Catholic Pope, created the 'Church if England' declared himself both pope and king of the UK, and began killing the women he grew tired of I guess his subjects just figured that it was just a game and forgot all about morality and God.
But you're not really correct about America. Many people in America are devout Christians of the several denominational forms of Christianity. Yet this is a private and personal aspect of their lives and completely separated from governmental law. When we or they or I for that matter object to the government making an immoral law it doesn't mean that my religion forces me to.
They or We or I simply know right from wrong and have a conscience.
REMEMBER THIS.
The US government is legally prevented from making any law regarding the establishment of a government religion or exercising the prohibition thereof. [ and...is not prohibited from having a conscience.]
