America's longest war comes to an end. Is war worth it in a modern world?

It is a requirement and contradiction of empire. Either the empire falls or you have to keep stealing other nations wealth to bankroll it. Been this way since Alexandre the great and probably before that.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Except for Russia now, empire-building is really NOT a thing anymore.
@MarkPaul Lol. Still spreading cold war bs. The US is the only empire in town no matter how much you pretend otherwise. I mean technically France still has bits and pieces left but the US is the current empire. And it is only in recent years that America has been in denial about it and gaslighting the world about it too.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow No one is doing empire-building since the early 1900's. Russia started it back up under Putin in an effort to put the Soviet Union back together.
@MarkPaul Lol. Are you really that naive? Or just dishonest?

And please stop parroting really bad takes from Hillary Clinton. You just look silly.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I'm not sure you understand what empire-building is, at least in a historical context. In your defense, most uneducated people don't, so I don't necessarily expect you to understand the complexities of it. Suffice it to say, in what I am coining as "these modern times," empire-building is not at all what is at play. In fact, with the exception of Russia and possibly China, nation-states don't want the responsibility that comes with owning and operating an empire. And, the only reason that Russia and possibly China can get away with it is because of what I call an "attitude-in-retreatment" from the rest of the world.
@MarkPaul I know exactly what it is. You clearly do not.

And insulting people who disagree with your dogma. Predictable.

Sure...the two nation's whose territory has shrunk in modern times are the "real" empires. Sure. All the foreign bases of every other nation amounts to about 30 total. The US has 800 to 1000 depending on how you count. The fact the US has started euphemisms doesn't change the reality.

And the guy who claims to know everything you still have yet to define your very selective and goalpost moving definition of empire.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Historically, taking land.
@MarkPaul That is warfare. Empire is something different. And you lose on that front anyway.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I'm fairly certain you don't understand the difference between helping societies advance and simply making a power grab.
@MarkPaul Lol. Clearly you don't. Sadly you buy the imperial propaganda. The secret is you are not supposed to believe your own bullshit.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow This idea of yours that primitive societies should have just been left that way would be laughable if it wasn't so elitist and what I call bureaucratic-radical.
