@Graylight Everyone was storming the room she was unarmed and made no aggressive movements towards the guard. I don't know if there training is to kill without reason in order to protect congress and I don't think his actions are unjustified he did what he was trained to do. But the fact is she lost her life when she never had to.

@Lostpoet She never had to, true. She could have avoided the entire situation by not breaching a federally protected space. The aggression was in the breaching itself. Do you think when an intruder makes his way into a cockpit because he has what he thinks is really important information that they simply escort him back to his seat?
There are mistakes for which the forfeiture of life is very clear and advertised. Ms. Babbit didn't believe consequences applied to her. They did.

@Lostpoet She came through the glass door portion into a protected area that is the last line of defense before the House Chamber. She was warned to stay away. She didn't. She caused her own death. Yes, it was needless, and she died for nothing, but she chose to do so. She was shot in the shoulder, so the officer didn't shoot to kill.

@windinhishair I don't think anyone thought they were going to die. To the best of my knowledge capital hill had never been seiged.
Lostpoet · M
@independentone there's no way in hell I kill a defense woman.
Lostpoet · M
@independentone Again I'm not saying that his actions were unjustified. He was probably trained to act in that manner and he probably didn't take time to get to know the girl climbing in.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Lostpoet No one has time in the middle of a violent insurrection to "get to know" people who are committing violence. His actions were not only justified but commendable. He deserves a special congressional medal for his bravery.
Lostpoet · M
@windinhishair I would very much disagree on that commendable part and so would the woman's friends and family. You need to take a time out my friend.
Lostpoet · M
@windinhishair A fucking medal for his bravery? The girl was unarmed and climbing over a barrier. You need a little sense in your life.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet Replay the tape... she wasn't standing alone with a shopping cart and an umbrella. She's the one leading "an army of insurrectionists" yelling 'hang Mike Pence.'" You obviously work a desk job if you think everyone should have just hugged her and thanked her for her previous service.
windinhishair · 70-79, M
@Lostpoet So do you. You don't enter restricted areas with warnings not to enter in the middle of a violent insurrection. The Capitol Policeman did his job with heroism and bravery, and likely saved many lives. He absolutely deserves a medal for his heroism. Babbitt got what she was asking for.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Graylight she was an unarmed woman killed by a cop
He was the only cop who fired a shot
Was his life in more danger than all the other cops who didn’t fire ?

@Lostpoet She was shot in the shoulder. Not a kill shot. You really need to ascertain the facts before you lie about it.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Lostpoet Your armchair quarterbacking is pathetic. Tbh, it sounds like you didn't watch the video at all, but instead repeating the commentary from the guy who claimed it was a normal tourist day, forgetting to explain the look on his face when the mob that she was behind her were trying to get to him and his colleagues.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@MarkPaul how can you say he deserves a bonus for taking a life ?
Should all inner city cops get bonuses when they take a life of a violent person?

@windinhishair Ms Babbitt was a veteran of the US Air Force who had served two tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. She later worked at a pool service company with her husband Aaron, whom she had only recently married.
Would you commend a killing of this person. It sounds like a life taken way too soon.
