Personally i've just been taking brakes of a week or two.

@Pikachu I have been going back and looking at old conversations I engaged in. Many of them were really deranged.

The rhetorical style here has largely become trying to humiliate or mock. Or to make a position and basically litmus test off the responses.

Yeah i've done the same. Some of them i'm proud of, some of them not so much lol

@Pikachu I feel the same. As an educator, I mostly feel like I am largely a failure. Not because of my inability to change minds. But by getting pulled into dialogs that aren’t going to go anywhere. This is an important element of having a discussion. That it actually be one. One can’t debate a person unwilling to evaluate their views. And one can’t have a discussion with somebody committed to rhetorical games. Or with somebody unwilling to face the consequences of their beliefs.

I hear ya. That's one of the changes i've tried to make here. I like debating, that's mainly what i use this site for but i'm learning to just steer clear of people who are just there to fight or blindly defend their position.
We're unlikely to change anyone's mind really but at least we can have a fun discussion about the issue.

Of course i sometimes fail at this lol

@Pikachu Well, the religious people HATE me. So I doubt I will ever post anything in religion and spirituality ever again. Even though that’s a huge part of my life.

Oh yeah? What don't they like? I think most of the really toxic religious folks have blocked me so i don't have too much issue there.

@Pikachu When I got out of the ICU, I blocked about 60+ people. I just unblocked everyone of them but a couple.

@CopperCicada Sorry. It was one of my pet peeves on Yahoo that people would stereotype and write "Why do religious people..." and then talk about something fundamentalist Christians do.

@LordShadowfire I get that. It’s one of my pet peeves too. There is no room for religious diversity here. Not even within Christianity. Thus is just refer to the “SW pastors” and the “religious”.
