When the whole country gets free, high speed internet, Will we get net neutrality and the right to encrypted communication with that?

Should people be permitted to have truly private conversation over the internet? Doesn't the high tech-ness simply upstage my right to privacy? Or was that National Security?

Net neutrality is absolutely vital. So is privacy. (Not to be confused with the terms of use on certain websites...)

@LordShadowfire LOL, you're kidding, right?
@sunsporter1649 No, but I'm still convinced you are.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire Who determines this alleged "net neutrality"?
@sunsporter1649 Not you. You people sat back and did nothing as it was taken away.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire What was taken away?
@sunsporter1649 Net neutrality. Do you literally have the attention span of a goldfish?
@sunsporter1649 Proving again you don't know what terms mean.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow "Splain to me what "net neutrality" is
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire So you do not have a clue, eh? Typical
@sunsporter1649 Net neutrality means the internet would work the way it has since the 1980s.

Without net neutrality your ISP can block sites entirely, or make sites they don't like load slower, or they could force you to buy tiered service like the cable company to access certain websites or services.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And just who determines what sites are blocked, reduced in service, or the rates to be supplied for said service?
@sunsporter1649 That's the damn point! Without net neutrality, it's up to the various corporations who provide internet service.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire Imagine that, free enterprise at work, amazing
@sunsporter1649 So you're in favor of private corporations censoring which websites you get to see. Imagine that.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@LordShadowfire You don't like your isp, there are dozens of others out there
@sunsporter1649 Lol. So you are totally cool with corporations dictating your life. Good to know.

And apparently you have never heard of the word monopoly.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Dozens of isp's are a monopoly?
@sunsporter1649 That's not the point. Internet companies shouldn't have that power, and here you are cheering on censorship. I'm willing to bet you would take a different attitude if your ISP suddenly prevented you from going to the Fox News website.

In practice, usually not - as always, you're bloody clueless.

@LordShadowfire I would just switch isp's if they shut off my watching of hockey games. Simple
