MLB Shouldn't Have Scheduled the All-Star Game in Atlanta in the First Place.

The city just had a such game in 2000.

Philadelphia hasn't had one since 1996.

Last time the ASG was in Baltimore was 1993.

There hasn't been one north of the border since 1991.

We haven't had one at Wrigley since 1990!
Fan Fest for All Star week brings in a lot of money for the host city, The fairest thing would be to move it around the league so each team hosted every 30 years.

I wonder who decides? Do they bid for the AllStar?

Good question. I'm not sure.

But there doesn't seem to be an uniformity to grant it to cities who've been waiting a long time.

Often it goes to a fairly new ballpark. Or a retiring one. (2008 was old Yankee Stadium)

@beckyromero Something needs to change regarding that.

Yes. I think they should just go around the leagues, alternating by year until every team has hosted it. Then start around again.

They seem to prefer confederate states!

@samueltyler2

There are 30 teams in MLB. Number of ASGs in states of the former Confederacy over the past 30 games (if you include the scheduling of this year's in Atlanta) has been the same as the number of MLB teams in states of the former Confederacy.

Toronto is overdue and does deserve one before Atlanta.
