How much money does America lose on illegal immigrants? I assume that's the objection. If not, what are the other reasons?

The reason undocumented workers exploded after Reagan decided rich people who hire them should not be prosecuted is it gave total legal cover for oligarchs to exploit desperate people with no rights and no benefits and below legal wages.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow And there is the total answer to illegal immigration and unemployment right there in one. Bring back heavy penalties for enploying undocumented workers and free up those jobs for those with a work permit.😷 Gee.. I wonder why no one ever thought of that before...........
@whowasthatmaskedman Might have something to do with the fact that the source of the problem and their donors are the same people.
@whowasthatmaskedman Not funding death squads and coups in their home countries would help too.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well if you want to look deep enough, the war on drugs could be won in a month, by buying up the crops and putting them into the legal pharma industry. That would be way cheaper than the law enforcement and put the criminals out of business. But who would we have a war on then?😷
@whowasthatmaskedman And if the US is all about the war on drugs who come when the US invaded Afghanistan opium production went up almost 100% in a matter of months.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Again. Just pay top $ for the whole crop and it would be cheaper than fighting there. Not to mention easier on lives. and America could sell both sides arms for all the tribes to fight each other. No matter who wins the US still wins.
@whowasthatmaskedman If you know anything about the Air America fiasco it is not so much about not liking drugs it is about not liking competing cartels. It came out during the Reagan years that various presidents had been running a Narco Cartel out of the Oval Office since roughly around the start of the Vietnam War to finance "off book" stuff.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Sure,, But not openly as an instrument of foreign policy.. No cartels. You set a high price and buy the total crop...Openly. Burn it, or sell it on for use in the legal pharmaceutical industry..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman The problem with that is then your profits go to big pharma and not directly into off book black budgets.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow But the govt od supplier to big pharma as well. I am not against capitalism. I am for making it work without subsidies and tax cheats.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman We have different views on capitalism but that is not what this is about.

The government is in this like a drug cartel. They are not going to hand over their business to Big Pharma. it also negates the point of having dirty money off book for black budgets. Surprisingly this is not uncommon among rogue nations of any stripe.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I dont think we are disagreeing. But without a couple of thousand words I cant detail where this fits into the picture of how US society could be better. Managing the border through stopping illegal employment. Managing the drug business and crime through registration and legalisation and treating it as a health issue USING the pharmaceutical industry to manage supply and quality solvesw the criminal behaviour issues, and redistributed money to local people in poorer countries (including Afghanistan.) I get that there is a lot of detail to be worked out. But the way things are currently done seems deliberately counterproductive and inefficient.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman I think the key flaw in your reasoning here is the assumption that any of the people involved care about the welfare of the American people and not power for power's sake.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I certainly agree those in power dont care at all. The disappointing fact is they dont care about thier own future either..😷
