How much money does America lose on illegal immigrants? I assume that's the objection. If not, what are the other reasons?

Your confusing the script with reality. The average person is much more moderate in the subject than the extremes the press promotes (for the purpose of dividing us)

@Pikachu for example most “conservatives” I know are fine with the idea of granting “illegals” a path to citizenship, same conditions as legal immigrants, eg, no felonies etc - at the same time as ensuring that doesn’t create a free for all at the border. No country in the world let’s anyone who wants to wander in and stay.
