Why should TEACHERS get raises when so many students grow up without learning about finance, American history, writing and tech skills?

Teachers should be well paid because teaching is a hard, time intensive and emotionally intense job. When you're a good teacher, that is.
The teachers are not choosing the curriculum they teach and the fact that the curriculum doesn't have everything you'd like to see on it doesn't mean that teachers should suffer for it.
