Struggling to think of any of the current bunch that I have that much respect for.

That is a sad statement in itself. How do we let ourselves vote in such a bunch of unremarkable leaders.
YOHah · 31-35, M
@SW-User what about the ones I listed . ?
Gusman · 61-69, M
@SW-User One does not have to keep voting them it.
Why not everyone vote for the independents. See what happens.
SW-User
@YOHah Modi sadly with his actions in Kashmir has lost my respect.

Putin - anti democratic for a start. You then have to look at the list of people who have been poisoned etc. where Putin must have been involved in the the decision ie. Alexander Litvinenko, Sergei Skripal, and recently Alexey Navalny. Then of course what has been carried out by Soviet troops in Ukraine and Syria.

Dominik Tarczynski I've not seen enough of. I live in the UK and he's not made a significant impression to be referenced by our media that much.
SW-User
@Gusman In the UK we have the anachronistic First Pass the Post system.

So we get a majority government elected on the minority of the votes cast, electorate etc. etc.

I live in a constituency where only a Conservative will ever win. I vote the way I want to vote, my grandfathers, uncles etc. all fought to give me the right to still vote but frankly my vote means nothing. I have to vote for the obvious other party to have any chance for my vote to mean anything.

I wish we could have proportional representation then maybe British politics might grow up a bit.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@YOHah All the people you listed are on the nationalist right and are part of organisations which have done awful things to minorities.
YOHah · 31-35, M
@SW-User what Modi has done in Kashmir ? Am not aware ..I looked at Modi because of his humble background and his popularity. What is this Kashmir issue u are talking about ?
SW-User
@YOHah Here's a resonable summary of what happened.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-49234708

Essentially Kashmir has been split between India and Pakistan since the division after independence from Britain (hardly one of Britain's finest hours either!).

There has always been some level of autonomy granted to Kashmir and Kashmiris as a result. Essentially last year Modi "invaded" Kashmir with Indian troops and the parliament (overwhelming Hindu controlled) rescinded the part of the constitution that gave these freedoms to the Kashmir. Just overnight, without any negotiation, discussion etc. just through force of parliamentary power and military might.
@SW-User Lolz...that is not true...contrary to what you might have heard. Kashmir belongs to India, but the fight has been going on for years where terrorists (Pak funded) are fighting over it at the borders. They have been funded by China and Russia.

Otoh, the Indian govt has been run by the Congress since it's independence...until Modi got elected recently. Now the plot gets twisted. Hear this...

Those running the Congress was the Gandhi family(descendants of Nehru) They were in no way related to Mahatma Gandhi. But Nehru was a Muslim who lied about being a Hindu...he had a step brother called Jinnah who ruled Pakistan. Nehru fooled all of India into thinking he's a Hindu therefore he will think bout the Indians post Indo Pak war. Even his daughter Indira who falsely changed her name has now been shown to have used fake names to be the next in line...year after year the Congress ruled India always showing us that they're the best party...buy corruption was on the rise, and people were going from rich to poor...nobody cared..they controlled the press. Times of India...
During this time, they appointed Farouq Abdulla to head Kashmir. He systematically helped tweek the laws in Kashmir. All the hindus living in Kashmir were attacked and killed overnight..around the 1980s...most of them Pundits escaped into Jammu with nothing but jewelry. They lived as refugees in India. Now Kashmir is funded by India...but their laws state that Indians are not allowed to buy property there. Indian army spends it's most in protecting Kashmiri borders. Check out PoK...on the map.
All these truths were disclosed to Indian public as recently as two decades ago...until then no one knew...lol...imagine how shocked they were to read proof after proof that Congress was funded by KGB and all these sinister fuckery was out in the open. There's more, but if Modi has taken that action in Kashmir it was becoz Indian soldiers who used to patrol the Kashmiri borders used to be pelted by stones and grenade bombs thrown by young kids...the soldiers were not allowed to carry any guns as per Farouq Abdullah's laws. So terrorism was on the rise and the army guys were frustrated...Modi is cleaning out that shit. He's like excuse me, you(Farouq's Kashmir ) claim to be a part of India...we are paying for the army, protecting your borders and in return the Indians are not even allowed to buy land in Kashmir (coz they were scared that the Pundits might come back n buy back their ancestral lands)...let's be fair....and so you see what he has done.

He's fighting terrorists...so he had to take serious actions. We needed more politicians like him. He's a great, loyal and honest leader. Check his personal assets and you'll be humbled. This leader works 18-19 hours a day. May God bless him.

@Vivaci the alternative view... (propaganda) ...

Activists say Indian troops routinely get away with a multitude of human rights violations on Kashmiris living their daily lives.
Rape, extrajudicial killings, widespread use of torture, mass graves in the mountains of Kashmir which are unmarked. Who are those people? Why were they killed? There is no answer. In addition to that, there are thousands who have disappeared. More than 10,000 have disappeared. Mothers searching for their sons who (as young as 13) have disappeared. There have been many cases of fake encounters where they would take innocent Kashmiris to a forest, murder them, mutilate their faces, and then dressed in a way so they could be passed off as the dreaded militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The Indian army denies most of these claims but the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society has documented hundreds of cases of people being abused or killed. Most recently it was the case of Farooq Ahmed Dar, who in 2017 was used as a human shield to protect an Indian army jeep from stone throwers. Iron pellets are also used to disperse protesters continues to blind Kashmiris despite condemnation from human rights groups.

Amnesty International says Indian government policy in the region gives its army legal immunity for their actions making conviction rates close to zero. Pakistan regularly raises the Kashmir issue at the UN and India accuses Pakistan of exploiting the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir to further their goals in the region.

Given I don't live there I can't judge but I don't believe either side ever speaks the truth about what is happening there.

@Vivaci are u indian ? How do u know about kashmir so well
SW-User
@Vivaci Thanks for the link - I have a vague memory of him and the "scandal" with his revelations. I also believe though a lot of people thought he made a lot of his stuff up to get more notoriety but again who really knows the truth.
@YOHah I've studied with these Kashmiri refugee girls who used to cry every festival remembering their homes, how their mom cooked delicacies when they lived in Kashmir and how they ran overnight whereas their brothers and fathers who stayed back to fight those vandalists were killed. They cried bout how their moms have cracks in her hands n feet today as they live below the poverty line ..mostly on funds by the govt. Read about the Kashmiri Pandits...you'll know the truth.
Daal lake used to be so safe and beautiful before that happened. It used to be called Heaven on Earth.

@SW-User Its not just the Kashmir stuff which is 'controvertial'.

https://www.jacobinmag.com/2020/09/nerandra-modi-dissent-india-bjp

Jacobin is a leftwing American magazine edited by people of Indian heritage. They have an international outlook and close links with critics of Modi on the sub-continent. Their contributers have written much more on this.

Modi is like Trump but actually worse. What Trump would do if he could get away with it.
@SW-User That's the evil of secularism, my friend. It's all around us...look at London riots for example...what does the police do? They're only asked to watch the vandals destroy property. They can't shoot...lol...
Before 9-11, the west didn't believe in Indian fight against terrorists. Everything was like
but who knows the truth?
Well, now that terrorism has spread, we can still hear two sides of the story...but who can deny that Osama was found hidden in Pak? Lol...just because the truth isn't mentioned that often, it doesn't make it a lie.
@Burnley123 When you want to see the truth behind any politician, try to see how he is using that position for his own benefit. Look at Putin, Trump, and Modi.

I don't care how good corrupt politicians look coz they have an army of spies to hide their wrongdoings. But you can see through their lies if you care to look.

You'll be ashamed if you compare Modi with Trump after this.

Anyways, I'm not going to discuss futile things just for the sake of arguing. I tend to stay away from ridiculous fact-twisting media.
@SW-User About your alternate view comment...

Let me ask you in layman's terms...

If a neighbor takes away your property by force, and lives in your home and you are forced to run for your life with nothing but a few valuables and your kids. 25 yrs later, your son (grown up and wants justice) wants his ancestral home back...he tries to take it back from the evil neighbor....but the neighbor is making up stories about how your son is harassing him just to make your son look like the villain. Who will you believe?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Vivaci You show all the characteristics of a Trump supporter, including the dismisal of facts in favour of quasi-religious belief in thw words of the cult leader.
@Burnley123 My friend, you can label me any which way you want. I don't care.
SW-User
@Vivaci But all these disputes are like this... Northern Ireland, Israel and the Palestinians, USA and the native tribes, Canada and the inuit, Australia... I could just go on and on and on...

it ends up increasing and driving division which I'm come to the conclusion is what most of the politicians want now not harmony. We need a new order which is about peace and forgiveness and reconciliation - now... Mandela there was a world leader who truly stood head and shoulders above the current crop.

Our PM signed an international treaty in January 2020. He now realizes he may fail to get the deal he promised by December 31 2020. So he writes a new bill to break that treaty and therefore international law. He sends me an email (I feel so privileged ;-)) he tells me Labour are siding with the EU (EU bad Boris good - it's like a fucking pantomime). But Labour said - remove the modification to the Irish protocol and they'd back the internal market bill they aren't siding with the EU just saying "We don't think we should break an international treaty". But the key is - note the driving a division in his message - nothing about working together, reconciliation etc. etc. just more division upon more division.
@SW-User I think you've voiced the dilemma of a common man who doesn't want anything but peace. Peace and safety for himself and his coming generations.

Unfortunately, there are corrupt countries who aren't happy to live in their own fucking country and they want to acquire more ....to this day. And they will play games with peaceful countries, in order to destabilize them.

We need powerful leaders who can identify this evil and keep our peaceful countries away from the manipulation and pressure of these rogue nations.

So vote wisely, my friend. To God and country! ❤️
@SW-User On the lighter side, I'm reminded of The Common Man cartoon strips by RK Laxman. It's bout how we are affected by politics..(The common man is the silent spectator in checkered shirt) 😆🤗 There are many...but here's some ....🤭😅
