Who are the best modern politicians on the global stage?

Abstraction · 61-69, M
Jacinda Ardern, NZ. Brilliant leader.

@Abstraction I'd forgotten her - Like a shinning piece of gold when all around is tarnished tin.

@Abstraction And all of the leaders in my second post FAILED on coronavirus. NZ is one of the best.

@Abstraction came here to say this

To qualify, they'd have to be virtuous, effective abd around long enough to have made a difference.

Maybe Jacinda Arden of New Zealand but after that im really struggling.

My own PM is Boris Johnson and he is neither virtuous or effective.

Putin has presence even when quiet

Struggling to think of any of the current bunch that I have that much respect for.

That is a sad statement in itself. How do we let ourselves vote in such a bunch of unremarkable leaders.

@Vivaci But all these disputes are like this... Northern Ireland, Israel and the Palestinians, USA and the native tribes, Canada and the inuit, Australia... I could just go on and on and on...

it ends up increasing and driving division which I'm come to the conclusion is what most of the politicians want now not harmony. We need a new order which is about peace and forgiveness and reconciliation - now... Mandela there was a world leader who truly stood head and shoulders above the current crop.

Our PM signed an international treaty in January 2020. He now realizes he may fail to get the deal he promised by December 31 2020. So he writes a new bill to break that treaty and therefore international law. He sends me an email (I feel so privileged ;-)) he tells me Labour are siding with the EU (EU bad Boris good - it's like a fucking pantomime). But Labour said - remove the modification to the Irish protocol and they'd back the internal market bill they aren't siding with the EU just saying "We don't think we should break an international treaty". But the key is - note the driving a division in his message - nothing about working together, reconciliation etc. etc. just more division upon more division.
@SW-User I think you've voiced the dilemma of a common man who doesn't want anything but peace. Peace and safety for himself and his coming generations.

Unfortunately, there are corrupt countries who aren't happy to live in their own fucking country and they want to acquire more ....to this day. And they will play games with peaceful countries, in order to destabilize them.

We need powerful leaders who can identify this evil and keep our peaceful countries away from the manipulation and pressure of these rogue nations.

So vote wisely, my friend. To God and country! ❤️
@SW-User On the lighter side, I'm reminded of The Common Man cartoon strips by RK Laxman. It's bout how we are affected by politics..(The common man is the silent spectator in checkered shirt) 😆🤗 There are many...but here's some ....🤭😅

That's an interesting question, I guess if very much depends on your definition of the word "best".

Best at achieving their aims, best at making a positive difference in the lifes of many, best for the poor or the rich, best for the planet, etc.

I do not know what is happening in Russia but I really like Putin's way of delivery.
He is a sober, no nonsense guy.
I like Modi but yes I do not know what is happening in India.
I liked Abe from Japan..Has anyone replaced him yet ?

As I'm on this thread I'm reminded of Billy Connolly's great quote
“The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.”
"Don't vote. It just encourages them....”
Synyster · 51-55, M
Definitely not this moron

YOHah · 31-35, M
Putin no doubt.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@YOHah Powerful and intelligent, sure, but not best as a superlative of "good", unless you're okay with countering the opposition with neurotoxic tea 🙈
SW-User
Well one of the worst is Modi .
And best is Jacinda Ardern .but i could be wrong about her too , anyway i like how she dealt in the case of shootings of muslim in the mosque and with the whole corona virus situation.
Jacinda Adern - without question.
