They will leave you alone if they feel like it, and if they feel like picking on you then they will. Because they can.
SW-User
No they can’t pick on ppl because they feel like it ... those days will soon be over. A civil war is coming @SubstantialKick

@Mikentx1997 oh there's a reason. They're pieces of shit. They abuse their authority. They cover for their own when their own do bad things. Sorry you're a bootlicker but you need to wake up out of your little sheltered dream.
Chasingthesun · 46-50, F
@DearAmbellina2113 I agree with you mostly. Some cops are good though but not all
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Chasingthesun Some jobs - you don't get to have bad apples.

I don't know where you've lived, but I grew up in Chicago and it was (and still is) a much different story.
Mikentx1997 · 51-55, M
Chicago has always been corrupt check history if you can find books anymore @latinbutterfly
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
If that was only true then the innocence project wouldn't need to exist...
Mikentx1997 · 51-55, M
You have to check the stats@ozgirl512
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Mikentx1997 all I'm saying is that they're not infallible and they do make mistakes... They were humans first, police second
Mikentx1997 · 51-55, M
True but I don’t get your point. Don’t break the law and you are fine. Simple @ozgirl512
Your faith in the police suggests to me you’ve led a rather sheltered life.
Mikentx1997 · 51-55, M
Quite the opposite. @TopOfTheWorld
LeopoldBloom · M
@TopOfTheWorld Nah, he’s just an authoritarian piece of shit who doesn’t mind the idea of living in a police state, as long as the boot is on some other guy’s face.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Cool what crime did Breonna Taylor commit?
How about Tamir Rice?
Ryan Whitaker?
I mean I can go on.

@CountScrofula EWB... existing while black.
I should edit to please note the sarcasm. People won't get it. 🙄

Really? Where I live the police have quotas. They have to make a certain amount of arrests or they get fired. So in a hypothetical 100 percent law abiding town they would have to make a minimum percentage of false arrests to keep from being fired. Hmmm...
@eMortal I like taking a policy and looking at what would happen in its most extreme form. It usually doesn't turn out well. But people love extremism.
eMortal · M
@canusernamebemyusername we're all humans with families to take care of and bills to pay. That pressure can lead to a lot of unfortunate situations.
@eMortal Yeah. I wish everyone could live in a place where they were all taken care of. Stupid finite planet😞

You're so wrong. You remember this one? 2 black guys sitting in Starbucks waiting for a 3rd person. The story ends with them being handcuffed by the police. Their crime? Sitting in a Starbucks without ordering anything. Is that illegal?
LeopoldBloom · M
Bless your heart, you actually believe that?
I guess the Branch Davidians got what they deserved.

Have you ever noticed...racists will twist themselves into pretzels to justify their views.
Really good meme, though. 🙄

@hartfire It’s a whole different world. And I don’t think we’ll ever speak the same language because some won’t ever listen to anything they don’t believe to be so.
@bijouxbroussard So true. There are hundreds of thousands of records of police stopping and harassing drivers and citizens in public places with no provocation. The US government's own records show the darker the skin pigment, the greater the likelihood of harassment, and the greater the danger of being shot even when there is no weapon and no sign oh hostile or disrespectful behaviour.
Anyone can access these online.
So people who don't acknowledge it are choosing to remain willfully ignorant and in denial - or worse, they are actively racist and unwilling to face the truth of the harm that causes to the whole of society.

@bijouxbroussard You're right. They're comfortable in their zones of "rightness" and familiarity, and prefer to twist whatever they see into a justification for their existing world view. Some people cannot handle the cognitive dissonance when confronted with reality, the result, denial.
This frustrates me, seeing how it slows down the progress of society.
But when we take the long view, and see how things have changed since 1700s, things have improved. Activism does work, the laws do change, and eventually the worst behaviours occur less often.
One of the things that does interest me is healing from intergenerational trauma.
I do believe that education from early childhood can help to eliminate racism. It would be possible to integrate this into every aspect of the curriculum.
Based on the US constitution, it could be argued that this should be a mandatory aspect of ensuring equal rights, opportunities (for happiness) and freedom for all. It cannot be all if minorities are not included.

Hopefully, we are putting an end to things as usual...we have an amazing police force...Dads, sons, Mothers, daughters...whatever race...unfortunately the bad cops get all the publicity.....that is not what we are...we are human beings sharing the same experience...

That’s true I have other ethnicities friends. Police has never bothered them.

@Jeffrey53 No one’s attacking you. Just wondering if you are certain or just assuming so.

@Jeffrey53 No one attacked you. I was merely suggesting that you may not know every detail of your friends' struggles.
Society rewards silence and punishes those who speak out. There is an incentive to not talk openly about this which is why anecdotal stories like yours don't really provide evidence to the OPs argument. That's all I'm saying.

Haven't noticed it much come to think of it. Meaning the connection betweeen police ativity and bad people, or more exactly, people doing bad stuff.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
No, they can actually mess with you anyway, in my experience.
bijouxbroussard · F
And if you’re white. An important third factor.
