Anyone from the 1950s alive ?

I was born in 1950 and also remember paying more for a new car than my parents paid for their house. I can remember being sent to the store with a dollar bill to get milk and bread. And I also remember my father saying that he worried about making house payments also.
@SageWanderer And that house your parents had a lot more room than that car you bought. Remember when a loaf of bread, at the bakery was only 30 cents, and wonder bread was, what a dime?

@independentone I’d buy milk and bread plus have enough left over for a treat as a reward. And give my mom change,
