I voted Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whoever I want. I decided to marry my horse.
I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 18% isn’t.
I voted Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I voted Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don’t start driving a Prius.
I voted Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing, because they now think we’re good people.
I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.
I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I voted Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.
I voted Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my ass that it is unlikely that I’ll ever have another point of view.
A Liberal is a person who will give away everything they don’t own.”

@fairgame123 Liberals don't believe in bestiality. Fail.
Liberal issues with oil aren't about taxes. We're capitalists, too. Fail.
Nobody slaughters babies. A fetus and a grown person...two different things. Fail.
Liberals understand the very simple concept that free speech is not unfettered speech, the same as permission to drive a boat doesn't mean permission to run down jet skiers. Fail.
Liberals know the difference between the weekend forecast and climate change patterns over time. Fail.
Liberals and Republicans alike are responsible for great power vacuums down through the ages in other countries we try to control. Fail.
Yup, liberals understand that the US Constitution isn't a fixe, immutable, sacred text. Regular revision and analysis were intended and are practiced all over the world. There's a reason we have an entire list of amendments. Fail.
Liberals are not socialists, don't give away their money, are fiduciarily responsible and are not responsible, historically, for "big government." Fail.
Liberal know that lethal force is not the only force. They understand that - while guns may be just fine - regulation is also fine and guns are no different than any other product on the market. Fail.
The very definition of liberal and progressive is the ability to discard tradition for newer, more innovative points of view. Utter fail.

Frank Dane, a politician who's greatest achievement is as a candidate in the Oregon State House of Representatives in 2006. And the quote is based on absolutely nothing tangible. Complete and utter fail.

I can't help but feel mildly offended by that statement I'm a liberal (not a political one, but a liberal just the same) and a fairly open one at that.
Now my sister, on the other hand is a prime example of a closed minded conservative.

@Sidewinder Liberal are so open minded their brains all fell out Until their liberalism is questioned. Then their mind snaps shut like a steel trap. Liberalism is a mental disease.
Sidewinder · 36-40, M
@JAYS21 You see, that all depends on how you define the word "smart," as there are many different measures of intellect in general.
When my sister and I were children, I was far more conservative and intellectual than her at the time, whereas she was more of a goth.
I have read virtually, every volume of every encyclopedia you could ever name from a very young age and retained just about every bit of information I have ever read from them.
Funk and Wagnalls, Britannica. Compton's, World Book, Colliers, you name it, I've read it.
By the time I became a teenager, I was becoming a little less conservative, but still maintaining my intellectual pursuits, whilst she was gradually converting into a more closed minded and conservative person.
And in conclusion, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out, that I am 70% liberal and 30% conservative.

@hippyjoe1955 Liberalism is NOT a mental disease, it's a political party.
And if there were no liberals, there wouldn't have been the hippie counterculture that originated in the 1960's.
